So, I was out last night clubbing and as per usual I noticed hundreds of those little silver canisters scattered on the ground in the city centre. I don't know much about them but was talking with a friend who was explaining to me what they were and how to use them.

I've been reading up (on Talk to Frank, no less.. but it's still research!) and this girl also said if I ever wanted to try one she'd talk me through it. On first inspection it seems like a good idea - I get a high from taking it, and if I take too much I pass out and die of oxygen deprivation. I don't see any negatives from it so far..

If I died I could just be another example of failed 'Darwinism', or something. It would be seen as my own stupidity rather than deliberate suicide.

Anyone who has tried them, what can you tell me about them? If you pass out from using them, can you be revived and if so would there be any brain damage or anything?

Also known as "whip-it's". You can buy them at most smoke shops (or at least you could when I tried one as a teen). You get a canister to release the gas and blow it into a balloon then inhale from the balloon and it makes you super high for about 20 seconds. Then you inhale a little more and repeat.

I don't see how you could die doing this though...you are taking air from a balloon (you couldn't blow the nitrous directly into your lungs; the pressure would explode your lungs very literally not pleasant) and once/if you passed out you'd let go of the balloon and start breathing regular air again. I guess if you could figure out something with a regulator? But I don't think there would be enough in one of those canisters.

If you wanted to try to get high from one and didn't have a way to buy them though, you could make friends with a starbucks barista. I worked at starbucks for 10 years and we used those to create the whipped cream used on drinks.

Probly not a method with the whip its, but nitrous is a disassociate as it can make you seemingly separate from your body. Doesent last long but it is awesome.

I used to do these. By itself it is not that interesting, I would do it when I got home from university to clear my mind. The most noticeable effect is auditory changes (echo-like), it also affects your sense of balance and there is generally mild dissociative effect. Often combined with cannabis or if you are feeling adventurous, psychedelics.

What I would do is put the cannister in a whipped cream holder (don't know english word for it). Then I would use that to fill a balloon, by putting a balloon on the nozzle from which you would normally get whipped cream. Not a fan of opening cannisters with so called crackers, you can easily get a burn from escaping gas. You just inhale the balloon for like 20 seconds. There is nothing to it, I don't see how you could kill yourself aside from falling down and hitting your head.
