I have a 125 cu. ft tank of nitrogen (I know that's overkill but it was the only one I could find online and I didn't feel confident enough to go to a shop) and a CGA580 brass regulator. Also have a brass flowmeter and hose but that's not relevant here. When I first tested the flow after connecting the regulator, there was a strong stream of gas leaking from the connection and blasting me in the face. I used a wrench to tighten the connection and now the leak is a weak hiss, but still present. Regulator still reads the correct pressure (~2000 PSI). I am not very strong and I don't have much practice with wrenches so I think I'm tightening it wrong, and the tank is laying on the ground so the angle is suboptimal. Even with the leak, I think I should be fine since the volume of the tank is excessive, but if anyone has advice on fixing it I would rather try that.

You could try using some Teflon tape on the treads before making the connection. That or use some JB Weld or epoxy

I would suggest that you consider using a longer wrench to increase your torque.

Thanks for the input. My wrench is about a foot long so I tried applying torque from the end and I was able to tighten enough to get the leak down to a trickle. I set my flowmeter to 20 LPM and observed what that felt like coming out of the hose. The leak at the regulator connection is not even close to that so I think I should be fine. Did some googling and found warnings against using Teflon tape on CGA580 regulators so I'm not gonna risk it.

Just have to secure my cylinder and then everything will be ready. I felt almost excited setting it all up. I think my CTB time is soon.

Tempest, you did the right thing. In the megathread Tiredhorse warns against the use of such tape on cylinder connections.
If you had a length of pipe or similar that fits over the wrench end, you can make the lever longer and so increase the force you are able to use
