We upgraded the forum to the newest version yesterday and I totally forgot about the new Push Notification feature.
Push Notifications is pretty much an opt-in system, meaning that you have to give permission for the forum to send them to you first. Whenever you get an alert, it will create a browser notification for you to check it.
You can disable these notifications at any time by going to this page.
