There are some nerds here?

With "nerds" I don't mean simply gamers but people who like nerd stuff like fantasy, sci-fi, lovecraftian stories, role playing, classic board games like Descent or Arkham Horror, card games like Avalon or Space Hulk, war games like Warhammer (the board game version, not the videgame version), cosplay, etc...

I introduce my self:
I like Lovecraft (I red all he wrote), I like the '80s horror italian films (some of them are ispired by lovecraftian stories), I hate deeply The Simarillion (it's a milestone of tolkienan fantasy, but it seems more a study about elfic genealogy than a prequel of The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings) and I love the Star Trek saga.
I like Pathfinder (but I spent some years playing D&D before the birth of Pathfinder), Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (the old version), The Call of Cthulhu and Ten Candles.

Long life and prosper!

Do you like Dario Argento and the Mothers' Trilogy?

Cool. Returning to the main topic, someone who likes my first post is nerd? You've not necesserly to be interested in all the subjects indicated in the post, it's just an example. Obviusly if you are interested in no one it's difficult to define you nerd

Not really a nerd outside of World of Warcraft occasionally and eating too many chips in my sweats. I like cosplay, but only the skimpy midriff baring variety on attractive women. Although I'll be 35 soon so I'm going to have to put a lid on that l guess. I'm probably getting creepy.

I don't judge, I think cosplay (I do it occasionally, making my own cosplay and usually never referred to specific character) is funny for three reason:

1) You can be wathever you want

2) You can watch beautiful girls almost naked or dressed in an explicit way

3) You don't seem a pervert becouse you are just watching a cosplay, casually performmed by a beautiful girl.

I absolutely love star wars, i got so many of the books and they were most of what i read as a kid. I do game a lot, but i also play dnd with some friends and its a lot of fun. I also like the Dune books and I'm trying to work through the whole series. Cyberpunk is also something i really like and i hope the battle angel alita movie turns out good lol, i love the manga and would hate to see it butchered

Are you reading all the books of the Dune saga? You are not simply a nerd... you are an hero! :O
I have no chance to read all the books.
I don't love to much Star Wars saga, I only saw the films, but I've a friend who readed all the comics and books about Star Wars, he definetly loves
that saga.
Do you play D&D 3.5? Or a newer version or an older one?
What kind of character do you use?
I use fighting characters like barbarian or warrior, my favorite race is the dwarves.
Honestly I think Pathfinder has less bugs than D&D and there isn't the eccessive gap of power between spell casters and phisical fighters like in D&D. But I've to admit to not know versions after the 3.5 one.

P.S.
With Cyberpunk do you mean the dystopian-futuristic artistic and literary gender or the role play game?

My nerd streak involves video gaming, sci-fi, fantasy and Lovecraftian horror as you've mentioned. I particularly love the PS4 game Bloodborne because it handles the Lovecraftian theme particularly beautifully.

When I was younger I ran a lot of Vampire the Masquerade.

I fondly remember space hulk and Necromunda. I am not too taken with the new version of Necromunda though or what I consider the demise of warhammer. My poor wood elves what have you done!

I have a comic book collection consisting of the early Witchblade and Darkness.

When not sick as a dog that ate chocolate. I sometimes play the board game Gloom Haven with some friends.

I also find neurology, psychology and sociology are all quite exciting for me. I am sure I can bore people with that knowledge like a true nerd.

Tried learning programming but I was as dense as Osmium when it came down to it. (That was a nerd joke by the way…)

Started to dip into anime, something I was averse to at first but I gave it a go at a suggestion of a friend. Now I am looking for something similar to the thought provoking 'Serial experiments Lain.' I also fell in love with studio Ghibli as well, Grave of the Fireflies was especially soul rending. I am glad I broadened those horizons, if you want to broaden them further be my guest. It is nice to be distracted these days.

I don't have a PS4 and Bloodbourne is a PS4 exclusively game (I usually play videogames for PC), but some friends who played Bloodbourne told me the same thing you talk about.
Which Lovecraft's story is your favorite one? Mine is The House of Witches and more in general I love the last period of Lovecraft's prose, but I don not like his poetry at all.

I must admit that I didn't know what osmium was so I googled it. :ahhha:

I love Studio Gibli too, my favorite their works is the "Enchanted City" and the "Princess Mononoke". What are yours?
Unfortunatly I don't know animes similar to "Serial Experimemts Lane" (I mean I watched it, but I don't know other animes similar to it), but if you like those temes probably you'll like the "Ghost in The Shell" saga and "Ergo Proxy": both are ambiented in a dystopian future and through the main plot they also explore human nature.

I read Lovecraft years ago so I can't remember now. I've got rid of every single book I own as I can't read any more. If you can borrow a PS4, check out Bloodborne. You're gonna love it.

And referring to your post below, I love Studio Ghibli too. My two favourites are: Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. I've watched them multiple times. I also like My Neighbour Totoro.

You are right! Also those two are really beautiful, like the 90% of Studio Ghibli's works. Did you see "Porco Rosso"?

I have to admit that I didn't like "Porco Rosso" or the other ones so much. I can appreciate other people liking them though. I just like re-watching my first two picks endlessly. I really find them magical and relaxing to watch.

Everyone has his tastes,
de gustibus disputandum non est.
I suggest you to watch "Momo" (The original italian title is "Momo alla conquista del tempo" and an alternative english title is "Momo, The Conquest of Time").
It's not a Studio Ghibli's work but It's really beautiful. It's an italian-german production.
