I should probably put this is off topic.
But I feel this is important. If the moderator moves it then so be it. I've tried literally thousands of dollars in supplements and i believe a lot of problems with mental health are linked to nutrient deficiency or hormone issues. a lot of things have helped me personally but I had no plan, I was just throwing random supplements at my body. If I had done my research and seen a naturalpathic doctor sooner I could have saved a lot of money.

Inositol and magnesium have helped me a lot, but this one I started to day I think is a game changer, at least for me. With in 1 hour the fog started to lift and I am feeling a lot better, better than I have in a long time. I hope it might inspire some of you to seek alternative treatments for mental and neurological issues. This one might not work at all for you, but there might be another that does I am not a doctor, I don't sell this product and I cant endorse it. But the point is, maybe there is something out there the your body is lacking. There are some side effects for some people , so its probably best to talk to your doctor. However it has been shown to work in everything from Alchohol withdrawals to stroke patients and even Alzheimer's. Do some reading on it , here is 1 of many links.
There are naturalpathic doctors that can run neurotransmitter tests on your urine and tell you exactly what you need. I just wanted to put this out there for anyone looking for hope. I think it's worth a shot if modern medicine has failed you.

It's a supplement called
Acetyl L-Carnitine.

I apreciate the post and am glad that this is working for you, but this should be moved to the recovery forum.

many of us here are not suicidal because of hormonal imbalances or deficiencies, some of us are here because stuff that can't be changed like genetics, the passing of a loved one or simply put, circumstances that just can't be solved. some are here simply because they see suicide as the rational choice without even having mental or phisical ailments and lives that can be considered good.

this resource will be much more appreciated there.

I completely understand. I was just hoping to maybe reach someone. I myself have lost my dad, my mom, and the love of my life for over 12 years left me because I started getting sick. I live alone and am on disability. I spend so much time living in tears and deep grief. it is really hard to see a future for myself. I am not sure what my future will hold, I just wanted to encourage some people who are young and maybe depressed and lost. I am older, I've lived a good life and I do not want in anyway to say something to encourage anyone to CTB. I say hang on and fight as long as you can, it breaks my heart to see 20 year olds ending their lives because of temporary problems, or depression.

I probably should have posted this in recovery... I dont think I can move it now.

I just wanted to encourage.

I have a few questions if you don't mind. When you saw the Naturopathic doctor, did you just pee and they determined you needed Acetyl-L-carnitine? Do you take a special type of magnesium? I read there's different types. Does the doctor actually help you with a diet or just tell you to "eat better"? I know I need to eat better but I also am going need a lot of guidance.

I can guarantee you that this idea would help a lot of people. A lot of mental problems people experience can most definitely be cured with proper nutrition. A lot of people, especially those in their 20s as you mentioned, have gaping holes in their diet that cause numerous issues. Depression being one of them. I don't think a natural-path is as necessary as taking a hard look at your diet and seeing what you're deficient in, but that sounds like what your naturalpath is doing anyway just with urine testing.

That stuff's pretty good. A bottle is like $10 at GNC.

I recommend going step by step with everything you eat over the course of the day. Don't judge yourself, just plug it into an app like sparkpeople. When you put in foods, make sure all the nutrients/vitamins/minerals for it are listed. Some foods are added by users and only contain macronutrients excluding the very essential vitamins and minerals that we're actually interested in. It's the vitamins and minerals you might be deficient in.

For example, when I did this, I had no magnesium, no folic acid, and drastically low vitamin D, low vitamin A, and low calcium. And I thought I ate healthy! Those things do make a difference, I promise.

Sharing anything that can help somebody is a good thing. If you can help one single person with your recommendation, it's a victory. Better too many tips than too few.
