Headline: falls higher than 12 meters (40 feet), unless I am missing something, are an extremely reliable method. I think this is extremely important information. Jumping gets a lot of skepticism in suicidal communities, partially due to worries of being discovered (for certain locations) but also partially due to uncertainty about reliability. I've also seen posts expressing worry that getting drunk beforehand would soften impact too much,.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this study suggests that acceleration above 17m/s is extremely likely to result in death, regardless of how one lands or on what one lands: https://ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/19930020462 This would mean jumps above 40 feet are reliable in any context (into water, while drunk, if u land on feet, etc).
