Hi all, I'm thinking about using this method and was wondering if the N2 levels or "concentrations" of this product would be adequate for my purposes... thank you.

N2 with scuba mask is recorded to have successfully been used exactly once --by an experienced scuba diver-- and failed on several other occasions by those of lesser qualifications. A search of the forum for inert gas and exit bag techniques and information will reveal several threads where it is discussed at length, including by someone who failed with it.

Think you could point me to that? I'm having a hard time finding it. :notsure:

"if the N2 levels or "concentrations" of this product" ????\
As far as I know, N2 is N2 that suppliers sell, 100%.
Explain more? Something I am missing?

Ditto, I been reading this forum for hours, haven't found failed scuba mask yet.
Please upload links, thx

I am just beginning my research on scuba mask.
It seem best option cus since expelling CO2 is an issue, scuba mask make sure CO2 never stays in mask, CO2 escapes with exhale.
Inhale 100% N2, exhale CO2 with scuba regulator.

In fact since I learned of scuba mask (few days ago), I am shocked why it's not the most preferred method?
(I know most difficult part is making right fitting from regulator to tank, but not hard to do)

Although many success with plastic hood with helium or nitrogen tank.

Am I missing something simple with scuba mask?

Now I'm not finding it. Sorry. I want to say the thread didn't discuss the method's failure in specific --it was more of a "damn it! failed!" comiseration thread, where the method was known because we'd been discussing it previously.

All I can say is give it a try. You might well have the success that has eluded others. Make sure you post a thread for others to learn from your technical expertise, though. It would be a great resource if it works out.

It isn't though, adapters are readily available, I already ordered one. See here: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/thre...-alternative-to-plastic-bag.16691/post-334779

Guess if it works we won't hear about it though, I'll just get banned for saying I'll try.

ook, I found this link that you bought adapter from.
Nitrogen adapter:
Thread adapter pressured air G 5/8" internal thread - nitrogen W24 internal thread
http://www.tek-diver-shop.de/de/Gew...uft-G-5-8-Innengewinde-Stickstoff-W24-In.html
It's all in German, then link not open to particular adapter page. So how did you know what to order?
So did you order from German supplier? DO you read German?
I am in USA, Maybe I can find US supplier?

Also do you have face mask already?
If not Are you gonna order? then where?
Face snorkle mask is much cheaper than scuba diving face mask, I think? Which do I need?

BTW thanks for the translation

Well I didn't use the actual link from the PDF, who knows how old that thing is anyway, I just copied it as is while translating. But I just googled a bit, like "g5/8 w24 internal thread adapter" and ended up ordering from a German supplier because that's where I live.

BUT the threads on gas cylinders in the US will probably be different than here in Europe anyway, so you'll need to research a bit what kind of adapter you need to make your helium or nitrogen tank connect to the regulator. Maybe we could ask @TiredHorse, since he lives in the US and seems to be knowledgeable on the subject.

I haven't ordered anything besides the adapter yet, I think I'm going to order a used regulator off eBay next, I want to try a few things. But you know, suicidal moods come and go and I'll see when I get motivated again to continue, it might be a few weeks.

OK, your in Germany.
"g5/8 w24 internal thread adapter" Maybe I don;t see the obvious...
Isn't g5/8 male thread?
12226
But regulator stage one connection to tank looks like this. No female thread, Just fit open space on tank then turn right knob tight.
12225
Explain??

Face mask? Is snorkle full face mask work? I don;t think so cus not fitted for regulator??? any comments?

Update...My question was bit incomplete.

Come to find out there are two types of regulator, DIN and YOKE,
At tank connection, Basically YOKE is screwed on (old style) and DIN is threaded on.
So this is YOKE.

Google search difference YOKE and DIN.

So for suicide purpose, I think we are talking about DIN.
Just need adapter between gas tank (say w24..US) to G5/8 female on regulator.
Thread counts and female/male maybe little different from conutry to country.

Now as I re-read the whole scuba translation, it makes much more sense.

Yeah, the DIN style regulator is where it's at. Maybe you couldn't fit an adapter into the yoke anyway.

Wikipedia says US gas tank valves follow a standard called CGA. For noble gases and nitrogen, the valves used would be 580, 718 or 680, depending on the tank pressure. 580 seems to be the one used for the equivalent of 200 bar tanks here.

I googled a bit but could not find an adapter to connect that to G5/8... maybe it's harder to find or you'll have to put different adapters in series, I don't know, seems there's more research needed.

I always learn something new from you...LOL
SO US uses CGA580..now challenge is to find CGA580 to G5/8 ??

Oof, well almost. If you could find that with internal threads instead of external ones I guess you'd be set.

On the other hand, most pics I can google of gas cylinders with CGA 580 valves seem to have internal threads... @TiredHorse can you comment? What do helium or nitrogen cylinders actually look like over there?

Over here they have external threads...

So what did you find out here? Will this work for US applications? Is there a way then to adapt the din 200 fitting on a stage one scuba regulator?
