The article says that the manufacturing company, Lundbeck, will no longer supply pentobarbital to the US for lethal injections.

"Lundbeck's refusal to supply pentobarbital to U.S. prisons has caused a drug shortage that has led some prisons to use a synthetic version of the drug made in compounding pharmacies, which are not regulated by the FDA, according to Mother Jones. These unregulated drugs have been subjected to less rigorous testing, and may include contaminants that cause significant pain."

I wonder if this is why Exit & Dignitas promote the drinking of N instead?

Either that or they felt an IV setup would be too complex or intimidating for the average person.

Saw this thread, I have a bit of experience. I purchased N from a Chinese supplier about 5 years ago. Shot up 800mg...why not. Didn't care if I survived, but wanted to make sure it worked.

Was a pain to dissolve properly. Once it did, there was a little bit of burning (nothing terrible, more like a sting). The main thing is the taste. Even with IV, you get a bitter taste in your mouth (this is not uncommon according to what inmates have said while being injected with N).

I was able to get the syringe out and rest myself on the bathroom floor...where I slept for 12 hours!

For large doses like a CTB, I feel a syringe pump is a must for a successful self-lethal-injection
