i dont really like living. but i love my parents. im an only child. after my attempt they were devastated, but so happy tgat i survived. they say that tgey cant and wont live without me, and sadly it seems to be true. they wont cope with my suicide ever

but i am thinking... what if i would give them something mine to care for? like a child. i know its cruel and unethical. i know that this child will miss his mother, but he will never really know me, so its not as cruel? and my parents will have someone to love, to care for, someone who will become their purpose of life. but its unethical? i dont know, what to do

i know this might be hard to say , but if u r suicidal and want it be over no matter how kind ur parents are, they must have done smthg wrong.
ur parents arent innocent , having a kid is a huge responsibility. dont ever put someone into this world specially with ur genes chances are they will be as suicidal as u ;
ur parents are grown fucking adults, if they didnt want u to kill urself, they would do anything for u.
and guilt tripping definetly isnt one

Who are you to decide their purpose in life? Who are you to say how your child should feel about having their mother ripped away from them? You don't want to live on this earth, what makes you think they will? What do you think gives you to right to make all of these decisions for everyone else? honestly life ruining for the kid to have a parent commit suicide shortly after they were born. i'd feel terrible about it if i grew up not even understanding the concept of suicide yet but be told that my mom took her own life. my mom threatened to kill herself and me and my siblings a lot when i was younger because she felt frustrated that she had to raise all of us after giving birth to us to try to make herself happy and fit into societal expectations of a woman. i didn't know why i was born if she thought i was so much of a burden that she'd rather kill herself than keep raising me.

suicidal or mentally ill people aren't fit to be parents if they're going to be actively suicidal around their children. it messes up their idea of having children and their relationships, because they'll internalize that they can kill themselves or die if their parent wants to die. it's just not right.

regardless of the (I think) anti natalist bias of the early posters. I see their point on the risk of bringing a new life to this world with a high chance of being unhappy given the precedents.

That said I want you to know that I completely understand you, I also love my parents and it hurts me that they won't have a grandchild. I've had similar ideas to yours, but I don't think it would turn out well. Moreover now that they are older, it wouldn't make much sense

I had a kid when I assumed life was going to be normal and safe - and everyone seems to adore my kid and forget all about me still and if a parent is still rejected so is the child. so yeah it'll definitely give them a reason to stay alive but it's not the solution at all.
It was also during the Obama era of "hope and change" so I felt super optimistic about the future and now looks at where things are headed! Mother fucker owes me child support imo lol

no, they are really great and didnt do anything wrong they care for me, never abused or neglected me, they worry about me and help me, they pay for my meds and doctors... the only things that they did wrong are: 1) they were against professional help when i first mentioned it, but they changed their mind after my attempt. because they finally saw how serious this is. 2) they insisted that i go to my university, which turned out to be a fucking shithole. and they didnt support my idea of leaving this place, so i stayed. but they really wanted a better future for me, and stable work was guaranteed after this university. but now they also feel sorry for pressuring me

they help and soothe me already, but i still hate life idk, i have a really normal life. many have it way worse. i feel shame, that im still suicidal, even with all my privileges. i have supporting parents, boyfriend that loves me, friends that care, hobbys, work, money and apartments... but i still dont really like living. idk if its depression or more like philosophy and worldview
