Hello! First time poster here :)

I was wanting to post some pictures I have taken from my adventures. I enjoy hiking and mountaineering. I would post them in the art thread but I got about 250 pictures. Here are 8 I have taken in the last year.

Let me know if you would like me to post more.

Good question!

Those trees are actually called Krummholz (German for "Crooked wood"). You typically see them near treeline on a ridge, canyon, or mountain. They are trees that try to grow but the wind is so strong it is very difficult for them to grow as intended. They tend to grow larger in areas where the wind is not as severe. In high elevation mountains, trees typically grow shorter near treeline because they require less oxygen at higher elevations. Another reason why trees are shorter near treeline are because they are more likely to burn in the event of a wildfire (wildfires burn upwards due to embers floating in the air) I have some more examples below:

Here are 8 I have taken in the last year.
They are absolutely beautiful, I'd love to see more if you have more photos.

Quick question, I saw some animals in the photos you have taken and I wanted to ask are there any animals in particular that stood out to you while hiking? I've hiked shorter trails and I love spotting foxes and dear! :)

Sure thing! Here are some more photos.

Mountain Goats are surprisingly aggressive. They are attracted to Human sweat and pee because it contains salt that they have difficulty finding. They basically see you as a salt lick and can get aggressive when you aren't okay with them biting you. I turned the corner once on a mountain and was 2 feet away from a mountain goat. I was close enough to pet it. It was licking someone Urine from an overnight camper that recently left and was not interested in me. I was in a very remote area alone, so I kept my speaker on listening to a podcast and made it loud enough so animals knew I was in the area (this also saved my voice so I wouldn't have to constantly talk to myself). I saw only 2 other people on the trail that morning. Very glad I did not get gored, lol. Having speakers on is usually a big no-no in the wild, but when you are by yourself, you gotta be heard.

I have only seen black bears while driving. I have seen a few grizzlies in Alaska at a far enough distance. I have seen moose as well.
