I think there only two types of parents that are truly loving: non-breeders without children and non-breeding adoptive parents who accept their offspring's desire to no longer exist. Refusing to impose existence (via reproduction) is the most genuine form of compassion, empathy, respect, and selflessness. Likewise, allowing one's adopted offspring to choose their own passing is another excellent form of selflessness and respect. It correlates to the adage "If you truly love someone, you must let them go." As for the argument about parents being devastated by their offspring's death, they shouldn't have had children in the first place - especially through procreation. Afterall, reproduction always results in the death (and suffering) of all organisms.

I'm sorry to hear that and for the longest time in my life (up until I went to college and even afterwards), my parents are also helicopter parents (overbearing and into my business rather than allowing me to be independent). I hope you are able to reacquire your method or another method and be able to have the privacy to yourself whenever the time comes. I cannot imagine how much harm the breach in integrity has caused you and also that person at uni is really a delusional fool who just doesn't "get it", hence whenever I became a member of SaSu, I've maintained silence whenever it comes to the topic of CTB and never talk about it IRL nor admit any thoughts or plans.
