Story My New recovery helper.

Hi everyone.
Just bought myself a new Python.
She's a Royal Python and she was in need of a home.
She was relinquished to my local pet shop because the previous owners had neglected her. The guys at the pet shop nursed her back to health and put up a sign saying that she wasn't for sale.
I enquired after her and expressed interest to buy her and give her a home for life. They know me and said yes. I'm a good customer at this pet shop and I own a lot of animals that people don't like. I own Snakes so have an understanding of their care. So here she is

This Snake will hopefully aid me in my recovery. Does anyone find animal therapy helps them? Do you have pets that help you through hard times?

She's a big softy and really sweet natured. She's around 3 feet long and is a thicc noodle!

This enclosure is a simple and clean set up. One that I will add to as I go. My animals are always kept in pristine condition and so are their habitats. Miss Pris ( the Python) prefers a big bunch of leaves to a box hide... if she displays behaviour that says otherwise then I will provide a Hide. Until then, she will sleep under her fake leaf pile. She will get to go to to park over the road for some enrichment and fresh air. Weather permitting.

Yes I have cats too! Mine are the same, really intuitive and supportive and always there for me. I love cats. My 5 cats are all related and I'd never think of splitting them up. They are my babies.

What a cutie. Hopefully she can help you give you motivation to keep on going on your journey. My dogs give me great comfort and always seem to sense when something isn't right with me. Sometimes I think we don't deserve animals with how good they are to us.

Thank you! Yes I'm glad that such a sweet Snake has a home for life. I totally love her. When I heard her story I knew I had to give her some stability.
Yes my Cats are my little babies and I absolutely love Cats. Always have. My oldest Cats are 16 and my youngest is 11.

Aww. I love Dogs too! Especially Doberman's and English Bull Terriers! I love the pointy snouts!

Yes I agree! Animals are literal saints! Or angels, or Demi gods in disguise. Can I tell you a secret.. well not a secret anymore. I think my big male Cat " Wicket "... is my Grandfather reincarnated. I always have. He is a sauve older gentleman and I really do believe that he is my Grandad come back to look after me. My Grandad was my hero!

Wow!! Beautiful Coral reef tank! Seriously stunning!! And gorgeous Doggo too! I had a Collie/Greyhound Cross female called Thai!! She was a Sweetheart!! Thank you for showing me your pics!!

Thank you!! I love Python hugs!! Pris loves being draped around my shoulders and she holds on with her prehensile tail. She does this back and forth rocking motion on my neck and shoulders, she is trying to get warm I think. Although I'm not putting her whole body around my neck and near my windpipe,... that just makes me nervous. So I'm careful with her. I'm not in any danger but still, it's my first time keeping a 3 and a half feet Python.... so I need to be careful. She is very inquisitive and wants to be friends with my big cat " Wicket".... bless her!

Thank you, it's so difficult to look after, it's awesome when it's working. Also it seemed to crop the last part when you click on it on mobile, unfortunately you can't see my mushrooms or plate corals

This is her enclosure that I picked up earlier on ... I had a night mate bringing it up the stairs to my flat. My cab driver had to help me. Then I scrubbed it out with Reptile disinfectant and then went to pick up the Snake. All the pictures I posted are of Pris entering her enclosure for the first time and exploring it. She likes her leaves, which the guy in the pet shop took out of her enclosure there and gave me, because they were familiar to her and had her smell on them. I also got her first rat free. I'll feed her every 10-14 days. She is estimated to be around 3-4 years old. She has trauma so apparently she regurgitates her meals a lot so I've got to feed her smaller meals for now. Tomorrow she is getting a warm bath. She likes a soak.

Aww that's so cool that you saved your cat! Yes I've recently lost 2 pets. My 2 Tarantulas. One was a common species ( a Chilean rose) and the other was a rare Peruvian species. They died from mounting problems the same night. Both were elderly. I've lost 3 cats too over the last 5 years. It's very painful to lose our beloved animal companions. ( I don't like the term " pet") so I don't really use it too often. I can't imagine my life without my animal babies. I keep multiple species in my home. Most of my species hiss! From my cats, to my Spiders to my Hissing Cockroaches to my Snakes. I love animals that hiss.

Aww so sorry about ur Tarantulas. So sorry about ur cats too that u lost over the years. It is so horrible. I always think i will never stop crying. It's hell. Yes i don't really like the word pet either. I do hardly use it as well.

I always wanted lots of animals at one time but it can be hard with vet bills . I'm kinda too poor to even have my cat but yea i need an animal friend. Animals help the misery in life for sure. They give unconditional love.

Thank you. Yes it's horrible to lose our animal babies. Me and my partner have decided to not have children so I keep lots of animals instead. It's fulfils my motherly instinct. I have brought up 1 centimetre spiderlings up into 7 inch Tarantulas. I like my animal babies to be big and robust. I like seeing them healthy. I like prehistoric animals. I wanted to be a Paleontologist when I was young. I'm a semi nerd. And proud!! I love Spiders and Praying Mantises and now I keep Snakes. Something I thought I'd never do. I love Horses and Elephants and penguins and Sloths and Owls and Ravens and all animals really. Apart from nemotode worms and Centipedes. I can't get my head around those creatures. I have an 11 inch Giant Millipede whose absolutely gorgeous. He's a male. He likes to spray me with cyanide, that's his defence. Yes ... cyanide. I kept Jumping Spiders and False Widows for a bit too. I love all of them! It's always gutting when I lose one.

Yes my animal babies mean the world to me! They do all have unique personalities and characters.
I love their capacity for forgiveness too! It amazes me.
Yeah the cyanide smells like almonds and it leaves a stain. But I love my Big boi Millipede and wouldn't change him for the world. He's a sweet gentle sausage!

Yes true and thank you very much! My Python is an absolute chunky sweetheart! She has a lovely personality and loves my hair. She is obsessed with my sofa and is always trying to slither down the back of it. She rubs her face all over mine and has to stay in contact with me at all times... she likes one of my cats a lot and always goes over to him to say hello. She tolerates my kissing her face and loves her branches in her enclosure. She likes her heat mat and her fake leaves. She looks happy and content in her enclosure. I rub under her chin and on top of her head. Her eyes are shiny and twinkly. She is headstrong and loves exploring my living room. I'm going to feed her a rat later on today. Now she's had a few days of settling in.

Hi everyone it's me ... Miss Pris!
I just want you all to know that I'm settling in to my new home really well. I've eaten and today my Mummy gave me a bath. I love a good soak! I then fell asleep on mums lap as she was patting me dry. I love my towel and my bath tub. I met my Daddy ( Mummies boyfriend) for the first time today. He said I was cute!
My Kittie brothers and sisters are still a bit scared of me, but I don't know why... I'm just a noodle with a head. Hopefully they will get to know me soon and they won't try to smack me in the face with their paws.
Next week Mum is going to order some decorations for my Vivarium from a place called A*****! It's an online place to buy everything from A to Z ... I can't wait for my crib to be pimped out! MTV cribs here I come!
In a few days I'm being taken to the park across the road... I can't wait!
