Hi, so I'm not very good at hands on things etc which sounds ridiculous. However, I am pretty set on the idea of full suspension hanging.

I was thinking of hanging myself from the banisters of the stairs in my home.

A few questions I need help on

1. Would i tie the other end of the rope around the top of the banisters, climb onto the top of the banisters and jump or what? I need a bit of help working it out.

2. The drop would be enough? And what length of rope am I likely to need?

3. The noose, would a standard rope do,, and just search for tutorials on how to do hangman's noose?

If not before I plan to do on my 41st birthday in February.

Sorry, my English is not very good. I recommend you use the search button for reading these topics:

1) How to hang yourself

2) Evelyn's complete guide on how to hang yourself with both partial and full suspension hanging

3) I just asked AI the best way to conduct a hanging. here's what they said...

4) Knots megathread - a guide

There is very good information (I saved them because I have also chosen that method for ctb)

I don't recommend drop hanging if you don't know what you're doing. I'm not exactly sure what you're working with, but I would tie the rope to the base of the railing and throwing the rope down so it hangs maybe a third or a half of a meter plus your height above the floor, basically just so you're suspended in the air. Use a slip knot. Get a rope that has minimal stretch and sturdy enough to support your body weight a few times over.

Test the setup by hanging from the rope with your hands (you can slide something inside the knot and holding on to it with your hands) to make sure the anchor is sturdy enough and so that you don't hit the floor. Pull on it and wiggle around for good measure.
