I'm currently staying with my mom in southern california. My dad found the ropes and ratchet + cornhole bags in my room about two weeks ago and didn't tell me till yesterday. Wtf?! I'm 18!! Is it even legal for parents to look through an adult's room??? Its my fucking fault I should have hidden these things. It was in my backpack that lay on the floor. IM FUCKED UP now cause my mom will become my conservator (basically a guardian of a disabled adult). It means that she can control almost every aspect of my life and make all the decisions. Also she will be able to see all the purchases i make online. What should i do??!!!! :(

Unfortunately, if it's legally their house they can go through everything.

Even if your mom is a conservator you can get through this. Anything you order can be part of a "new hobby" to help you keep stress down. You can make up a hobby for anything you order online.

Like Final Escape said, you'll be able to find ways around it. Humans are very adaptable, and what seems like a huge, insurmountable barrier now, can get easier to deal with later.

If you have entered into a lease agreement with them, they have no right. If you haven't and its their name on the deeds, you are effectively still considered a minor in their home, so they have the right to do so.

I'm sorry to hear Deafsnow. You'll have to find ways around it, like learning what times your mom leaves and comes back. Or somehow manipulate them into thinking you're mentally healthy again to get some much needed freedom to do what you need to do.

I'm really sorry to hear about that, and my suggestions now are to find ways to show that you aren't really suicidal (easier said than done) in order to buy yourself some time and space. Then after gaining some freedom, work on another method and always keep things under the wraps. I don't know all the details such as living situation, when your mother isn't home, disabilities (physical and psychological), so I'm afraid I can't say anymore specifics than what I have here.

If not, I also think you should try to pretend that you're getting better (perhaps like trying a new 'hobby') and take care of all things suicide under your mothers eye, if possible.

Are you sure your mom can become your your conservator? Unless you're really disabled or in and out of mental hospitals, that shouldn't happen. I read about Britney's conservators though, I don't understand how stuff happens in the US :(

Edit: Not being pro-life here, but maybe focus on becoming independent instead of ctb for now? Get your diploma and stuff, and ctb later when you're out of your parents house, if you still feel like it.
