Or "People who jump/hang themselves regret it the moment death becomes inevitable"

It's such bullshit because first, the best predictor for suicide is having ATTEMPTED BEFORE. The fact that most people who tried suicide don't die by suicide afterwards is meaningless, it's very hard to kill oneself, one failed attempt is discouraging, survival mechanisms are strong especially when it seems you have lost again them. society and family will try to discourage them/pressure them/and guiltrip them after a failed attempt, But with all that, the best predictor for dying by suicide is still a precedent suicide attempt, talk about regret !

Now, sure when people attempt suicide they may often feel an instinctive/mecanical/body survival mechanism reaction/panick even if they were sure about their choice to die by suicide. But that's not "regret", if you confuse the body instinctive reactions with meaningful desires/thoughts/feelings, then you have to admit too that females who orgasm during rape were enjoying it ! But few people are despicale enough to make such statements, so why do they think it's difference for a body mecanical reaction during suicide ? it's just survival mechanisms reacting mecanically !

Btw I would only say this if 1. If my life wasn't that bad and I had a stupid reason to ctb, not like people that actually need to die 2. If I would be locked up in a hospital in case I'd say no.

Of course it's bullshit because dead man tells no tales.

There is lot of impulsive suicides, done out of distress. Such as millionarie dodging his creditors.
If he fails - it's like a cork popping out of the bottle. Emotional shock and relief. And the guy will get his wealth back and start giving motivational lectures on TED.

But I tell from my experience as a "saved" person. There is nothing good about being "saved". Fuck em all.

I'm not sure ... but when I made my first attempt I did not hesitate a lot and it was pretty fast
I guess because he was pretty impulsive
and x this reason I also failed

I also think it's a biased sample. When people say that people who jump off the golden gate bridge survive it, they are using confirmation bias. So they are only hearing people who survived it. It's entirely possible that people who have not survived it did not regret it and the ones that did intentionally changed their position. Then you're only hearing from the ones who regretted it. There are probably jumpers who wished it had worked but they don't go around sharing their story. Only the ones who regretted it do.

I despise hearing that because seven years after my first attempt and one year after my second I still regret not having died back then (The only time I was ever glad about having survived is when I saw transitioning as an option but then gatekeeping fucked me good).

After I took the pills on my second attempt I didn't give that much a fuck. I was just glad it was over. This regret bullshit probably only happens with people who do it on an silly impulse, not the ones who have been suffering for years and severely. Those for whom life is nothing but misery.

Also, the methodology is itself biased. The same way you can't expect honest responses about hommosexuality in a country where hommosexuality is illegal, and people try to hide it and force themselves to not be hommosexual, it's stupid to expect answers when you are constantly pressured to say you regret it so that you are released quickly from the hospital/aren't guiltripped anymore/aren't harassed by your family and bombarded with questions and guiltripping etc etc. It may even be internalized and the person will feel guilty and "regret it".

You can even make some girls regret wearing "revealing clothing" after they were raped if all of society believe and endoctrinate them about how it's their revealing clothing that caused the rape. Doesn't mean anything.

Only a pro-choice society can makes legitimate polls concerning "regrets"

That guy who survived the golden gate bridge, this thread reminded me of him. I got slightly annoyed because he became a pro-life champion. But he has gone through a lot of suffering too and glad things are probably going well for him.

If someone doesn't complete a suiside attempt and they don't regret it they are not exactly going to say that to anyone. It would make another attempt harder to do. It is impossible to get accurate stats on it just like if you ran a poll on here asking "who is pro suiside?" then declared that almost the whole population is pro suiside.
It is also impossible to get stats on completed suiside. It's likely some people regretted it the moment before they died also likely some didn't regret it. Like OP said it is a useless thing to bring up because it is unprovable either way.

Let us explore this from another angle. As we all know, the news we get is all controlled. There is an official narrative, and that is the narrative that is pushed by the media. Watch both of these as they are great.

A good example is the relatively recent phenomenon of female teachers sleeping with their male students. This has always been going on, but they did not used to publicize it like they do now. When was the last time you heard about a male teacher sleeping with a female student. Hmm...

The official narrative is suicide is bad, and anyone who attempts it regrets it. Even when someone shoots themselves in the head, and blows their face off, they suddenly want to live and are much happier than they were prior to that. At least, that is what the media wants you to believe. We know better.....
