Mom found the rope bag

She was rummaging around my shit where I hid it and found it. I quickly distracted the moment but later she took it from the other spot I hid it in. She knows i've had a hard time with depression, and she probably put together it's for hanging my self. She hasn't said anything about it, she just asked "what's this?" during the moment. How do I get it back without alarming her for some meltdown?

It would be interesting to know your age, since with younger ages sometimes there is more opportunity to turn things around. It sounds like your mom cares about you, which is also a plus. I do wonder if you were able to get so0me more caring or support from family members or friends if this could make things better? Would you want to share what has gone wrong and what you wish was better?

Simple solution is to just get more rope and hide it better. My extended family judges me for my issues and would never understand. My friends just say shit I already thought about. There is nothing anyone can do or say to convince me to not want death.

Ok, it's your choice, you're an adult. I am sorry that your family is not more caring and that your friends haven't been able to help. I could come up with other ideas to expxlore, since age is on your side, but if you just want to move on that is up to you.

Tell her you want to try climbing to cheer yourself up? Plan something requiring a rope for fun reasons?

I doubt that people on the suicide discussion post here because they want to be 'saved' by a stranger on the internet. I feel like people who want advice on how to feel less suicidal would post in the recovery section rather than here.

I think that to answer the question, I would either pretend to not be suicidal to get the rope back or just buy some more. As the user said above, you could come up with some other excuses. It really is such a cruel world that we live in where others don't respect our right to die. If others want to live then that is fine for them but they shouldn't try to force their beliefs on others. I understand some people would rather assist kids to kill themselves, i believe it was quite thoughtful to check age and possible alternatives.

If i was you OP, i'd just get some more rope.
