Has anyone else here developed an aversion to seeing their own reflection?

I've taken down the mirrors I can easily remove, turn my head to avoid those that remain up, and dread the element of night that means lights on inside the house turn all the windows to mirrors. Inconvenient as all hell, when shaving, but avoiding my eyes makes it a little more tolerable.

A friend with experience in LSD and mushrooms opined that my depression may have brought on something similar to the "ego death" trippers experience. She always covers the mirrors in her house when she's tripping, for just that reason.

It's not a very deep aversion, but from a young age I hated seeing myself in mirrors. But that's probably a low self-esteem issue, because I judge myself to be ugly. These days I tend to think I'm not hideous, but I still dislike and avoid mirrors.

For me it's a new thing, and very much a flinch --physically, even, when I see my reflection unexpectedly.

I also just noticed that I flinched from my shadow. Very odd.

Since my body is the main reason I want to ctb (Seriously, fuck this piece of shit flesh vessel, wtf life) I have the one mirror I own covered and whenever I'm somewhere else I try to avoid reflective surfaces. They are the worst. Mirrors in public should be illegal.

I dont have problem with mirrors at home, but I avoid them in public space.
It doesn't matter how hard I try pretending, my eyes betray me, especially now. Some people notice.

I avoid them to the extent that I shave in the shower. I can go through many days without catching sight of myself once. My preferred barber was selected because his chair is not across from a giant mirror. Can't stand the sight of myself.

I enjoy looking at myself in the mirror.

I don't enjoy staring at myself in the mirror. If I am on a mind altering substance, I avoid mirrors.

I used to do that, but then I started shaving with a straight razor. I'm not yet skilled enough to do that without a mirror.

But it sounds like you have the same aversion as I do.

I kind of found it fascinating when I look in the mirror sometimes. Other times I'm horrified lol! The reason I do like looking in mirror isn't because I look as great as I once did but because it is a miracle that we were created and I think about all the thousands of years of people who had to fuck to create me lol! I wonder what they were like and what they did hundreds and hundreds of years ago. I lost my history because of family breakdown and moving to US from Hungary when I was a kid. Yes I know I could probably find out my ancestry but it's just not a priority anymore.
