So I was just sorting through old meds, and I stumbled upon a bottle of meto that I apparently filled but never took. I don't even recall being prescribed it - holy shit moment, right there!

But the use by date was June 2019. How long until it isn't potent enough to work?

Edit: Not sure if it matters, but these are pills in a regular prescription bottle, not a sealed blister pack.

Congratulations! I hope one of our resident pharmaceutical whizzes sees your question. I know many (most?) meds are good beyond their expiry date but this is one you don't want to be iffy.

Thanks! It feels so weird to get excited over something like this, but it's one less thing I need to stress over if it's good.

They're fine. If stored in a cool dry place out of sunlight, tablets can last absurdly long amounts of time. In nursing school, the university told us about studies on paracetamol where the drug had only degraded by 10% after ten years

Awesome, thanks so much for the info. It's been stored at room temperature in a drawer, so it should be fine?

I can't believe I've had it this whole time. I have stomach issues, but usually I take Zofran. No clue why that little swap happened, but it definitely wasn't on my radar at the time.

Pills in a bottle/blister will probably outlive most of us.
