May I ask how you are accessing this site on a psych ward?
I'm in the uk, we have really long stay secure units, I'm in a picu, they can keep you for years if they want
We're aloud access to phones (depending if we've misused them before or not) I'm in the uk aswell so things are probably a bit different

I tried with a bed-sheet one time. It was kinda dumb of me because they did "night checks" every half hour. By the time I was able to "set-up", I didn't have enough time to go through with it. Total fail.

In the US the units are literally suicide proof. There's nothing to hang on trust me I tried
Yeah, this is the method most people try but they just come cut it of and leave you with anti lig stuff :(
they normally block pornography sites and no access to the dark web when using hospital wifi. but u can use a vpn to bypass that

You don't have mobile internet? I wouldn't use anyone's wifi if they are going to censor what I am looking at! lol
By the way, what has kept you there for months, if I may ask?
Basically, it takes ages to prove that you can keep yourself safe, so for me getting leave is difficult because last time I went outside I tried to run away, and you have to have leave to start building up to home leave, then to start working towards discharge, basically, it's a really long process, minimum stay is usually at least 1-2 months and that's if you have no incidents
I'm serious, I was just curious whether anyone on here would have some genius idea, feeling like I'm just gonna end up having to fake my way out of here first

Seriously? I'm in the UK and terrified of being sectioned if I tell the doctors how badly I truly am. How have they kept you there so long? Why are you there, if you don't mind me asking?

Tbh when you are really desperate, you will find a way to do this and nothing will stop you
Ive been hospitalized dozens upon dozens of timesover the last 10 years. There was a woman who wanted to die so much, she wriggled out of her restraints, put her head into one of the belts, and jerked it violently back up and snapped her neck. She was dead on the spot
Another woman clogged the bathtub with balled up socks so water could collect in it, poured scalding hot water in, and took a bath in it. Got 3rd degree bruns all over her body and died in agonizing pain
I was lucky to only hear about these and not witness it
One man hung himself on the doorknob during the night when one of my friends was locked up, apparently. And the nurses bribed him so he would not call the copsand report that guy killing themselves because that meant all the nurses on shift that day would be sent to jail for not supervising him and they just wanted to cover their asses.

So, I'm currently under section 3, which lasts for 6 months but can be renewed, they have the right then to keep me here if it's deemed in my best interest. You get reviewed daily but until you've been incident free for months in my case at least, you're not going anywhere :( I'm literally just here because I'm a risk to myself
How do people even get a hold of these things?!?! We have everything locked away, no loose fabric stuff etc

Golly, that would drive me insane! I would bash my head against the wall until I go unconscious!
This was 2 yearish ago. You arent even allowed your the chord to your charger in my pysch ward. But theres always the shower curtain

An ex "friend" had me committed (US) once. It was a brutal experience. But I faked it so well the police and medical staff at the end were upset because she (my ex-friend) had wasted their time and resources calling emergency services on someone "like [me]." Incidentally, that woman/psychiatrist called me the day I was released from the hospital to scream at me and command me never to call her again. :-)
Until they invent a way to see/read our thoughts accurately, faking it is a must when dealing with an involuntary commitment (assuming someone really wants to get out to ctb).

I personally wouldnt try to suicide in a psych unit.
Ive been in and out of psych since I was 12. When I was a kid, I managed to sneak in my cellphone. I actually lost a really kind older woman her job.
Ever since then I try to do everything they ask. I dont want to ruin anyone elses livelihood.
