I understand that method restriction could be a good idea, for protecting the poster child guy who is acutely suicidal, and who will be miraculously better when he tells his mates and doctor about how he feels, and gets medication that melts all of his problems away.

But it's just cruel for those of us who have suffered for 10+ years, and who have tried our best to fit into this world, but it just does not work for us. I would not still be here if method restriction was not a thing. I live in a country where I'll never manage to import SN, and the only really effective methods available to me are hanging or jumping. I am afraid of failing with the former due to panic reactions, and the latter terrifies me. I made an attempt about a year ago with a plant poisoning method I thought would be successful, but at a lethal dose it didn't even cause any obvious symptoms. In my heart, I have known for 20 years now that as a woman with autism and ADHD and a whole bunch of other shit, and failure after failure at fitting in and being successful, that I do not want to be here. I wish so badly that I was allowed to die with dignity, and that it could be a happy time of celebration on my last day, rather than depressing and alone. This would also require other people to respect the choice of individuals. It's horrible being expected to live by a bunch of people who don't have to feel my pain every single day.

I also get frustrated when I am told that society needs to be "more accommodating of people like me", as a reason for not killing myself. Yeah, sure, that would help - but it's not going to happen, is it. It feels like I am expected to exist so that society does not have to feel the guilt that it is not accommodating of people like me. Allowing me to go would be admitting the problems. Maybe this is just a crazy conspiracy theory, but it often feels this way.

Sorry this was such a poorly organized wall of text. I just feel so exhausted. Every single day I wake up and I wonder how many more days of this I will have to do, before society finally stops trying to force people to be here against their will.

I feel your pain, being stuck in purgatory where existence is pain, but the methods of suicide are incredibly painful and have a high chance of brain and/or body damage if things fail. This is such a shitshow. There are cases when things do not get better and the pain just continues, and people just don't wish to accept that. I am glad that SaSu is a community that empathizes such situations.

I wish everyone here a peaceful, painless and quick escape from the painful hell they are in.

they are holding us hostage to life's failures because they don't want to acknowledge them. it's maddening to be planning suicide knowing it doesn't have to be this way. it could've been the easiest thing in the world. it's not like cancer which doesn't have a cure because it's super hard to find one. it's literally just this artificially created difficulty. when it could've been so easy

I understand, it feels so cruel and horrible to me as well, all I wish for is to painlessly cease existing and I suffer so much from how I cannot just have the option to die in peace. I only wish and hope to never exist again, the thought of suffering until old age in this existence where there is no limit as to how much agony one can feel is so terrifying to me, I personally just wish for non-existence instead of all this cruelty.

I do agree with you and understand your desperation/ frustration. It's the practicalities that I think become difficult. What I think should happen would be for assisted suicide to become legalised and strictly regulated. Realistically, it would only likely be for people with terminal or chronic illness initially but, maybe in time it would start to be available for people with debilitating mental illness etc. Personally, I'm not sure they'll ever offer it to a 'healthy-ish' (by their standards) adult who's simply had enough though. I just don't think there's enough general public support for that.

The problem with having unregulated methods is- it leaves it down to the sellers to make the decision on who they feel comfortable selling to. Should they bother asking for age verification for example? How can they assess what mental state a person is in? I'm not sure how they could get around that. Ok- we know you're selling this to people who want to kill themselves but- try not to sell to any minors or people in a psychotic episode. They can't exactly acknowledge that they know sellers are providing suicide aides to minors and just do nothing about it. I think a lot of the time, it is the issue of minors that creates problems.

It really is cruel. I hate at how heavily restricted suicide methods are. The fact that that some of us are trapped in existence is just so cruel. We really deserve a peaceful way out of here but unfortunately we can't ever access a peaceful way out of here due to society. It's so fucked that birth is unregulated whereas death is highly regulated

But they do allow it for terminally ill people already.

My point is that it should be available to all, and/or method restriction must stop. Banning people from importing SN is a violation of personal freedoms.

Depends what country you live in. Plenty of countries don't even provide assisted dying for the terminally ill.

I agree- it should be available for all but I find it unlikely it ever will be- not for all anyway.
