Method I can do with common household items?

What are the best methods I can do without having to get items that I wouldn't already have? Not going yet, just might come in handy later.

The only ones that come to mind that are well-documented peaceful methods are compression with tourniquet (see Five Last Acts p.209+) and partial hanging using a rope substitute.
