Today people in the USA mourn those that have died. Many are visiting graves, today as I drove past the cemetery I feel sad not cause of all those that have died but out of jealousy. They are out of suffering and people act like its such a sad thing. Theres nothing about this material world that is worth it

I understand as I envy them as all I want is to be at peace, I just want to never suffer in this cruel, torturous existence ever again, for me non-existence really is all that's positive, I see no sadness in being permanently free from this existence of suffering all for the sake of it that I always saw as such a terrible, cruel mistake in the first place, I'd be so relieved to never suffer ever again, I'd never wish to be burdened with this existence that is only suffering with no limit as to how much agony one can feel no matter what.

When I really think about it, it's just selfishness, isn't it? People are crying over how they feel about someone else's death.Life is mostly suffering and only very little happiness. I just don't see how the juice is worth the squeeze anymore.

Most normal brains think life is worth living. It's our sick brains that believe it's not. I wish I could give my life to someone that didn't want to die and enjoyed life.

The difference is 99.9% of fallen military didn't want to die. They weren't suicidal but they were willing to die for what they believed in. I will not argue about America, the president or politics. I'm simply stating the fact. Their families mourn for them because they know they didn't want to die and they miss them. Those who have committed suicide while serving should also be honored and of course they intended to die. I imagine their families are mourning because they miss them. You can absolutely be suicidal and miss those that you love who have died whether by their own hand or not. I'm all for people committing suicide if they choose, however I also feel one of the saddest things in life is when someone who wants to live dies for any reason.

Life is not worth living as it seems our happiness if we're lucky enough to have it is dependent on someone else's misery.
Seemingly.
This place is evil and should not exist. It's an immense tragedy that it ever did.

I agree. Memorial day is primarly for fallen military and that makes me sad. Here people are celebrating it for non military who have died so I was focusing on that sorry I didnt mean for my post to come off as offensive

Oh it's not offensive at all. I'm sorry if I was to abrupt or offensive. I thought you were in the U.S.? Memorial day is for those who have died while active duty no matter how they died. (Combat illness etc... ) but not for civilians or even veterans.

It is primarly but people still use it as a day to remember the deceased even if they were civilians

I don't think I've ever seen that before. Probably a good thing. I'd definitely have to say something lol.

I am absolutely pro-choice. I agree that if someone is suffering, it is not a sadness that you should feel when they die as I know I would be relieved they didn't have to suffer anymore.
The thing is, when it comes to being sad,I always think how a death of someone close can make the living ones suffer and their life just gets worse. especially if they already are having a hard life. that's when it gets sad. I don't know if you are fortunate to have any people close to you in your life , if of course that's what you want. But somebody close dying to me is just going to make life more difficult for me and harder to deal with . When it's my parents, I will have so many responsibilities. I can't even think about having to deal with them all. I have one friend, if it was her, I would partially feel guilty for the rough life that she had to endure. And of course, a parent losing a child, their lives will never be the same. Death can also bring a financial burden to someone or create a nightmare about where they live and who they now have to care for. It can leave someone's life feeling very empty and alone if it was someone that they spent a great deal of time with.
I guess it's just something to consider. Even with the way I feel about life, I often do try to put myself in another person shoes.
Of course, in general, you can see how I feel about life from my username!

Aside from the actual intention and reason for the holiday, where I'm at Memorial Day is the official kick-off for the beach going season. People are "allowed" to wear white and seasonal businesses open. It's the beginning of summer fun for happy people with friends and family and the financial means to vacation. In that sense it's a reminder of what I don't have and where my life went wrong.
