Once I was dry skiing, tripped, flew a good 50+ feet I'm guessing, like superman, horizontally, hands out, going some 40mph. It would have made a crazy slow mo video!
I landed and my hand felt weirdly numb. So to check the damage, took the glove off and found I'd broke my thumb in a way you don't want to know. Spent 6 hours in A&E, waiting a cast and a 200 mile journey back with 10 really pissed off friends.
Not something I'd do again, and it still gives me pain 20 years later but it was worth it, I can say I can now die a bit happier. It's two reasons in one for wanting to go.
If you hadn't guessed, my team lost the race and I came last. I wasn't invited back, and only one ever met me for a drink again! But women will do anything for a man with a cast if you ask nicely
One of my reasons too I don´t get why getting a sport injury would make life worth it. I can never workout again and even just 15 minutes light running on a threadmill makes my back hurt like hell, even sometimes just if I was shifting gears in a car it would hurt.
I've got other injuries which add up to me just giving up even walking within the house unless I have to.
I'm sorry it's affected so much of your life. I can't imagine what it must be like to have all the focus of your problems on one event
