pfffffff good question. me too is unemployed so no chance of meeting anyone from working, over here in england we have a thing known as car boots which is probably known as a yard sale in the states, i've met people there but nothing serious. maybe try sites similar to dating but instead friendship and might meet someone with the same hobbies?

At the exceptionally rare occasion that I talk to someone in real life and get asked about my occupation, I'll lie about working online.

Could just say something boring, freelancer, or whatever your previous position was. Then just transition to something interesting instead of something to fill space. I don't really care about people's jobs that much.
