• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

In the U.S. especially, there always seems to be an idea floating around that you can be saved. It's showed up in a lot of media - a caring person reaches out their godlike hand to a suffering suicidal soul, and instantly cures them of all their suffering because they cared enough to listen. Having someone just be there and listen does sound like it would help a bit, but solving all of their problems? No.
The fact that this image is constantly pushed around means that both sides suffer from it. People who know suicidal people constantly think that if they hand them off to a good enough therapist, they'll just stop suffering. And the suicidal people themselves sometimes spend their whole lives wasting away, just continuing to live a life they hate more than anything, because they've had a delusion forced into their head that someone will appear and save them.

Lifes not a movie except maybe a horror one. Ok so it's not all bad but this tendency to romanticize makes everyone feel their lives should be better than they are. That might be why horror movies are so popular then their lives seem ok by comparison. As long as it's not them all is ok in the world

People wonder why suicidal people cannot stop thinking of suicide by themselves even under therapy. Being like there is no way they have therapy or medication if the still think of it. I agree with you that it does not magically stop anything. Being helped and having an alternative solution is a step at a time to being better. If there is none then they should have the oppurtunity to choose whether to CBT or not yet must be thought through alot as the decision is final.

Yes and psych drugs can often make things worse like they did for me.
