I feel lonely because I feel I can talk to only 1-2 people on this issue. Are there people here who believe NDEs are a sign of the afterlife and not random brain firings?
P.S-It's perfectly fine to believe either way, I am just looking for people who believe all of it is real

I don't know that what happened to me was a sign of permanent "afterlife" or just the interim time between life and death but I don't think it was brain misfiring. I had a complete sense of total peace while below on the hospital bed I could see people pulling and tugging and shouting at the other "me" to wake up.

Just my take. I'm sure a lot of scientists can prove me wrong

I believe there's a few forums out there about NDEs, I usually stick to glitch in the matrix type stuff on reddit, but it certainly seems plausible that there is some sort of afterlife, even though it isn't really enough for me to fully believe. I enjoy reading about em regardless

this is one of my favorite NDEs

I believe the after life is real but not necessarily that NDEs are a sign of it...

Hm, this is such a common thing people say, it makes me think there's a connection between this and astral traveling. So interesting. Not even a very spiritual person, but I have experienced "out of body" experiences where I was looking down at myself in that weird time between being conscious and falling asleep.

I'm not necessarily fully convinced NDE's are afterlife proof but I believe in one and enjoy talking about theories etc.

I'm more of a Astral Projection/OOBE fan. I just think in general their connection to a Afterlife is more believable.

Aren't NDEs just from dying brain releasing DMT, making them trip until they die?

that's what people say, but there's no real way to prove that's what it is. just speculation, although not unreasonable.

yeah I believe NDEs are good evidence for the afterlife. people always say that it's the brain firing things, but even some neurosurgeons say that it's impossible for the brain to do that. Another thing is some people are able to accurately report what other people were doing/saying in other rooms while they were in their NDEs floating around the hospital, this cannot be explained if its just hallucinations.

you can talk to me about NDEs I am very interested in this subject. I have personally never had an NDE but have had probably close to a hundred OBEs and lucid dreams before and truly believe that there is some kind of afterlife.

here is a neurosurgeon who had a NDE himself. he used to think NDEs were hallucinations too, but now this is what he says:

I experienced heart failure and was resuscitated with a defibrillator. It was at the hospital so the whole thing only lasted for a matter of about 5 minutes (i am told). Several people have suggested that I may simply not have been gone for long enough to be able to relate a complete account and they may be correct. I can only describe what I recall.
There was no pain. I just felt as though I was taking a short nap. Then there was literally nothing at all until I was rudely awoken to find wires and tubes all over me and a number of very relieved looking medical staff. One nurse tells me "you gave us a bit of a fright there".
Whether this means anything or not,it has had a huge influence on my life. I have no fear of death. Only the way in which it may occur.
Priorities have changed and I find I am far more sceptical than ever.

If one isn't dead, then why would one enter the afterlife, assuming there is one?
Did an Angel go "oops, my bad - not dead yet"?

It seems much more plausible that it was a dream-like state.

Most of my family have seen ghosts before. I saw a little girl walk through my wall when I was younger. My mom used to see her great grandmother. I've also felt the soft footprints of my cat walking along my bed. We didn't know what happened to him. I think it was him visiting us to let us know he had passed. Also, both a friend and I saw a (in my eyes white, in hers red) van make a full turn on a road that there was zero possible way it could have. The story of that road was that someone had burned down the school that was there many years ago and there's a van that Chases people off it. We didn't know this beforehand we just saw a van that was chasing us
Edit: this isn't the same thing as an EDE buuuutttt close enough

I had an NDE during my first suicide attempt at 13/14 years old. I went through a moment of feeling overwhelming guilt at what I had done then I felt a warm feeling of forgiveness and an indescribable peace. Then three beings that appeared to be blue lights tried to pull me from my body, but could not saying my soul was too weak. I made a full recovery without real medical intervention, so I may have just been hallucinating, but I really don't think so.

I definetly believe there is something like an afterlife. The human consciousness is a far too big, mysterious and not understood thing, that anyone could claim there is no afterlife.

Thank you for giving me the scariest stuff. :( I don't know if it is purposely written as if by a non-spiritual person to reel people like me in, or if it is genuine but it is the most scary thing. I don't want to die only to exist again, probably even more painfully. :(

After dying, I am convinced this is not the end, its just another stage of our journey. Its very difficult to put into words, but we are part of something so vast, its beyond our comprehension in this form. Its not all bright lights and harps, if anything its the opposite. Dark and peaceful, but with a sense of belonging to something akin to a conscience that is just infinite. Its not something to be frightened of, thats for sure and it is not a existence as we know it.

I acknowledge that there aren't any really strong evidences for it, but for some reason I really do believe those people who say they lived through it, seems plausible.

I realize you made this thread back in February but if you're still looking for people count me in too. I've always been fascinated with NDE's but I became fully convinced after reading Anita Moorjani's story.
