My PMHNP said lithium is supposed to make me less suicidal and help me regulate my emotions better. After a couple weeks of taking it, I am probably, mentally, at the lowest point of my life.

If you took lithium, did this happen to you or did it help you?

Lithium almost killed me. I've never heard a positive experience. I recommend you get off of it it's a terribly difficult medication to deal with and the lows aren't worth it.

Horrible stuff that really screwed my thinking up. It also made me so thirsty, I was drinking the best part of 5 litres of water a day.

Lithium is what has made the most stable in my life. I'm allergic to lamotrigine and valproic acid never really helped, but then again I'm bipolar, so it helps with the episodes. Turns down mania almost instantly

My partner was on lithium and it made him incredibly thirsty, also practically gave him hyperthyroidism.
