Can someone give advice on making the ligature the right length when tying the slipknot on one end and tying the other end to the anchor point? What is a good knot for the anchor point and how do I know where to start tying the slipknot for the right length?

The ligature should be long enough, so maybe 40cm. Maybe shorter if you want to go suspended hanging.
As for tying a slipknot, for me me when preparing, I took around 1/5 of the rope.

This is for how to tie a slipknot:

If you have a good solid anchor point as a metal bar or wooden vertical thing, you can lasso the other end of the rope multiple times around it and then u should have a bit of rope left. With that little bit you go into the openings of the rope that is tied to the anchor points in parallel movements.

If this is abit vague there are also other good knots such as the anchor hitch which is fitting for any definite point such as metal bars. https://www.google.com/search?q=anc...d=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=qJg9VlmNtbV49M:

You should look to adjust the length of the ligature the rope to your own anchor point. Sorry if I am a bit undetailled but I think it is best to experiment your own. Also before you hang yourself, push down on the slipknot to make sure it can hold your weight.
