What size and type of ligature should be used? Has anyone experimented and found what works best? Partial or full. I've noticed things like bed sheets or belts don't seem to work for me. I have a 3/4" polypropylene rope but it's somewhat difficult to tie. I also have a guitar cable that I'm not sure if it will work or not as it might be too weak. What about climbing rope? Does it work? Does it need to be static or can it have some stretch to it?

Your rope is too crude and the wire is way too thin.
I recommend 5/8 inch double braided dock line. It is strong, smooth and usually 25 feet with a loop on one end you could put your head through. (If you wanted)
Plus, it is reasonably priced. You would pay much more for a nice steak.
