I dont post on here much but i still check it out.

From being depressed and suicidal to being in a job.

Heres what ive noticed.

People wanna take the piss.

What is important and ive noticed this.

People rely heavily on your facial expressions.

People are sly.

Im trying my best to earn money but honestly i can see how fake people are.

Thats all to be honest.

Does anyone agree?

I agree, not everyone you encounter in the workplace will be an arsehole, but you get those idiots who just thrive on causing misery.
I've had many fights with people in the workplace from managers all the way down. I've had managers apologise to me and admit they were wrong.

People only show what they want to reveal. Wearing a mask will do that and eventually it'll wear you out until you become convinced of the lies everyone tells each other just to get through another goddamn pathetic day. The most exhausting activity is pretending to be what you know you aren't and to know how benign and conniving people are to hide behind their self delusions. We're trying to act normal, to act like we are okay when we aren't. It's pathetic how even for people who want to show the world a little truth about themselves we are forced to conform to the pettiness of a hiding behind a mask. And all we can say back is 'I'm fine, I'm okay'" and in all honesty would they even care to listen to the truth? "The world is full of monsters with friendly faces and angels full of scars."

I agree with you @Ashpac. Yes, most of this world is full of deception, falsehoods, injustices, and what not. While atm, I don't have a job, I could not imagine slaving away for a large part of my life doing the things that I don't want to do but is necessary for survival just to get by. I would likely ctb before I hit retirement age or end up in an assisted-living facility having to get underpaid healthcare workers to wipe my ass, feed me, and do things that I can't do by myself. I want to die with dignity and on my own terms.

On balance, I have to say I had relatively good experiences with people in the work-place - at least on the surface. Looking back, a lot of this perception has to do with the fact that I'm a 'card carrying co-dependent' so I was always doing more work than I needed to do. This, in retrospect, is something I would change if I could go back in time. (Note:I did face a few card carrying assholes along the way - but it took me a while to recognize it as I was always trying to 'please' them)

@Ashpac - I know this is an older post so I'm not sure if you'll see this, but I'm sending you positive thoughts for your work situation. I hope it is going well. Peace.

Thanks. I read your message. Meant alot. Im still trying at my job, mainly because i need to, to move out. Once i leave this evil house i live in, lots of weight will be lifted from my shoulders (ill still have the other pain in my life obviously, its not all about where i live) however, If I get sacked .... well i guess the SN will be brought out ;)

People are fake yes not just at work but in all areas of life.
People don't like it when you show that this world is just a bunch of smoke and mirrors.
Sometimes though you do find a person willing to accept that this world is a little bit fucked and they're worth hanging around, maybe you'll run into those people out there in the world.

I understand this completely. Being a large, athletic, educated white male like me seems like the ultimate privilege. They have a suicide rate of over 4 times the population in the US. You can't show weakness, showing emotion and feelings is taboo. You're right, forced to hide behind a facade until for many, they reach a breaking point. I did not have that happen to me, I was able to talk to a few close friends and my wife. I " lucked out " and developed incurable cancer.

I've had to wear a mask at jobs and at the university. It worked at the beginning, but I couldn't help to be myself at the end... Some people don't understand that you really want to be left alone, that it's not necessary to hang out like besties, etc. That fakery makes me want to scream and run away to a cave. But of course, all that act is sometimes necessary to survive... Being a bit of a misanthropist some people have thought I was disrespectful, others imagined I was enigmatic and cool. But no: nothing like that. Just a regular nincompoop. Lol

There's no such thing as white privilege, and it's ok to be white lol! :)

One of the definitions of the word "hypocrite" is "One who puts on many masks"

The word comes from stage acting in ancient Greece.

It would describe most people in their everyday lives.
