I am not smart, I'm just an average Joe. I have never achieved anything of note and never done anything that would indicate I am smart. On an IQ test I got 115, that's within one standard deviation of the norm, or simply average.

So why do people keep telling me how smart I am? I hate it. They have 0 reason to believe so. Because they think I am smart they place unreasonable expectations on me, that make me feel stupid when I can't meet them. Why are they doing this? I am starting to feel like I am just stupid and thry are talking to me like a retarded child:"Yeah, you're smart, you're special." While cringing about my stupidity when I am not present.

FUCK

Hey Luchs! I feel the same way. I don't know the answer. I do know how frustrating this is.

@Luchs i've only ever done 1 IQ test and got 119 :blarg: i was high and did it after hacking my friends FB account the test was part of FB page or something so the result was as though he did it. He has learning difficulties and people used to troll him over his spelling etc so i thought it would help to do an IQ test for him to say hey i'm not stupid. I was on drugs.

That was off topic anyway. I'd rather people tell me i was smart than stupid. IQ tests are only a guide and can be practised. If people tell you you are smart then this is generally a good thing.

I think the problem is that others are inaccurately defining you. Usually they tell others they're dumb when they're smart, or that they have nefarious intentions for the things they do. In your case, the bar is placed too high and you're set up to fail. You're told you have abilities you don't. That sucks.

In all of these cases, they do it because they don't see reality. It's like someone gaslighted them, told them reality was different than what they experienced, and then they took those warped lenses and keep viewing everything through them, including you. It does matter how much you show them what's true, it doesn't compute to them, it doesn't work with their filters. It crazy making stuff. Tell them to change their expectations. Tell them to expect things only of themselves, and to back the fuck off of you. You don't exist to serve them.

Only suggestions, of course. I speak strongly when I feel strongly. I encourage you to take from this only what serves you and set aside or discard the rest.
