What do you all think of the idea of leaving gifts behind for loved ones? Either posession's you currently have or buying a gift just for the purpose of given them something to remember you by. Say for example buying my 2 sisters a gold necklace or something like that? Does this seem selfish on my part to try to make myself feel somewhat better about leaving? Will it hurt them more considering that I am a suicide? "Oh he just bought me these things so he it could help him CTB with a clearer conscience". Plus that item would always remind them of my CTB. I want to buy them something but it's complicated due to the circumstances. My sisters know I wouldn't just randomly buy them something sentimental. Even for their birthdays. So it's out of character as well. Any advice?

I've left several gifts behind. It's all detailed in an appendix to my will. I think leaving behind a gift that inspires a certain meaningful memory of your time together can be impactful. I think (and hope) that it leaves the recipient with the knowledge that you were thinking of them; that they meant something to you and made a positive impact on your life. That's the message I want to leave.

For example, I've collected art in every country I've visited, so I've left those pieces of art as gifts for special individuals with whom I went on those trips. I've also left LEGO for my goddaughters because we play with those all the time.

I'm giving whatevers left of my life savings to charity. Gonna change my beneficiaries, currently my parents, so they get nothing. Maybe it's not a nice gift for them but the charities deserve it more.

It doesn't seem selfish to me. It seems like a great way for your sisters to have something to remember you by, and it also seems quite thoughtful.

I guess it's up for you to guage how your sisters reactions would be upon receiving those gifts. If it was me, I would not think that way.
