That's exciting. I haven't yet. I'm interested to try later this year or early next year. Let us know how it goes. I have decent hopes that it's effective.

I've signed on for it as well. Starts later this month. It's my last ditch effort.

I'm in the us and insurance won't cover it. I'm using my small savings and what's left on my credit card to afford a few weeks of it.

Don't know how I still have a job tbh with all my issues.

I'll just have to wait and see I guess. Otherwise my ae and sn await.

ketamine is awesome, great decision, pinky-promise! it'll most definitely help you out. by shutting down the everpresent mind chatter it's highly effective in showing us how our mind is responsible for much unneeded suffering. by changing our state of consciousness we open ourselves up to new possibilities in our lives since we literally, even if only for a brief while, get to see the world with completely new eyes. psychedelic assisted psychotherapy is also much much more effective than simple talk therapy since by temporarily transcending our usual state of consciousness we're actually moving vertically instead of remaining in the horizontal plain, this is the most powerful catalyst for change. psychedelics can amplify the beauty of existence that is so often clouded over by our overactive minds and thus also make it easier to have insights into our traumas since our ego/armor/rigid defenses are temporarily down. this can then open us up to other healing modalities which don't necessarily have to be dependent on a chemical, things like meditation, self-help books, or even further exploration of other healthy psychedelics, although they're not really necessary perse and it all depends on how deep you wanna go. excited to hear your trip report! enjoy the ride

I'm really interested by this and really hope it works for you. I've seen and heard good things but results do vary. There's some encouraging info though. Best of luck with it!

Thank you guys! I will let you know for sure! I cant afford it myself, the VA is paying for it and it is a little over $800 a session, there are 12 sessions. It is horrible how mental stability is prefraced on $ on this planet. Ive heard good results from this though. Im all about psychedelics and have done aya quite a few times. The problem is when the aya wears off and you have to go back into your Earth suit and exist on this planet. Im sorry, just nervous and maybe a little bit of self sabatoge is creeping in. This place has rejected me before because i told them i wouldnt join their groups or do their talk therapy. They said it was a requirement and rejected me. I guess im kinda glad the VA did something good for me for once 😃

I've got a question for you all about ketamine therapy---I've heard of the use of psychedelics for treating depression and other mental health problems. Does anyone know if ketamine interacts with antidepressants (particularly, SSRI and SNRI varieties)? I know firsthand that psilocybin interacts with them in very unpleasant ways, and would not willingly go through that again.

Also, if you get to take something fun like that, instead of the usual meds, are you stuck sitting in a therapist's office, or confined to hospital, or what? That would be a drag and a waste of good drugs.

I have combined SSRI with ket without any issues

Not medical advice just personal experience .

Yeah, you are stuck in the room for at least 2 hrs. They said its up to the doctor when you get to leave but it is at least 2 hrs.

At home prescription ketamine treatment is a thing in the US; it's what I do now. I see my doctor online and the drugs get shipped right to my door from a pharmacy. I take it from the comfort of my own bed.

I basically do the same self-medication routine/ritual I was using before, but with clean pharma drugs instead of grey-market research chemicals.

Always thought about trying it, maybe I'll give it a chance since I got nothing to lose and virtually nothing helps me and my "resistant depression"

I've seen some programs like this. Do you do the micro dosing or just regular doses? Does it help much?

regular doses, and it helped immensely in the past, still does to some extent but there are some problems drugs won't fix - I don't plan on working again but I am trying not to be too depressed in my final months. And ketamine certainly helps with that.

I am skeptical of some of the online clinics prescribing small daily doses

I am prescribed compounding ketamine suppositories (not esketamine, which as spravato is a grift for clinics).
It's available as a compounded nasal spray, oral torches too.
Total cost about $300/month

It's fine, it's just relatively expensive (though can be more easily covered by insurance), the cost of the drug itself is really high and needing to take the drug in clinic instead of at home incurs quite a cost.

Ketamine nasal spray treatment can be safely done at home but they do not allow spravato to be prescribed for at-home use. So the only legal way to do it at home is to find a doctor that will prescribe compounded nasal spray.

That makes a lot of sense. Its a shame feeling better is reserved for people with $ rather than as a desire to heal people. I am by no definition a person with means, if it wasnt for my unfortunate happenstance i could not go on this journey.

The only war that exists is class warfare. The elite/rich have us fighting over meaningless shit. Capitalism is great!

It is easier and cheaper to buy these drugs illegally. The system has made it extremely difficult to get access to mental health resources unless you're rich.

It's a bit different to usual ketamine tbf. It's a specific infusion. I don't think being in the hospital/doc's room is such a bad thing. They give yoyr ear phones and leave you to listen to music until you'r done. You totally disassociate so it's not like you'd be doing anything differently even if you were at home or in a rave. The teip itself isn't the therapeutic part either. It's the after effects of the disassociation. Unlike other psychedelic trips which involve intraspection and enlightenment of some kind or another. Honestly I think you'd find yourself happy for the safe space once you blast off and leave your body there.

It can be hard to get the treatment unless you're considered treatment resistant. You have to have tried all their other meds first although it may be possible to go private and get it that way but it is not cheap! :(

Congratulations to those who have been approved for/done that treatment!

I really want to try ketamine therapy, I know a place near me that does it (otherwise would have to admit myself to a hospital that does it but I am extremely hesitant to ever go to a psych ward again) but I'm not sure if my psych would consider me treatment resistant enough to get approval, though with the number of failed medications we've tried I may be just about at that point haha. Cost is a huge concern but I'm still just in the research phase, thank you all for the information.

So ketamine is approved for treatment resistant depression and depression with suicidal thoughts. It's very hopeful to hear it helps you a lot, do you think it targets the suicidal thoughts at all?
