My new pshciatrist has just called and has increased my medication. It does not work so why increase it. Anyway i am taking it to keep him happy. He asked me if i can keep myself safe and i said yes, although i am still going to ctb.

Can I ask what is your diagnosis and medication ?

Some psychiatrists rather want you to be sedated but are not really concerned about your issues in life. Their job is more about preventing crises.

Sertraline 100mg a day.

My diognosis is Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, Depression and Autism. My medication is Sertraline 100mg a day. Some pshyciatrist probably do want you to be sadated as it makes life easiyer for them, and then they dont have to worry about your issues. As i said i am not going to ctb, they have no concerns about a crisis.

Be careful with Sertraline. If you feel that you get worse, lose strengths, more tired than usual, your anhedonia hits hard, tell that to your doctor instantly.
I used to take Sertraline before.

This covid-19 is doing me some favours, as they have cancelled all mental health appointments untill further notice. Therfore i do no not have to speak to them and pretend i am not going to ctb, which is hard enough anyway due to me being autistic. They said if i need them i can ring them, that is not going to happen as i have made my mind that i want to ctb.

Sertraline was very mild for me, it was making me function and sometimes successfully. But there was a total anhedonia and life was tasteless. So increasing Sertraline might not be an obstacle if you are ready with your decision.

Thanks for your advice, what is anhedonia?. I dont want to tell any health people as otherwise it makes it harder for me to keep secret about my ctb, and i just need to keep playing along and pretending evrething is ok.

I am certain with ctb in August. Therefore it should not be a problem then.

Anhedonia is inability to feel pleasure. I got you, I remain silent too, do not even visit my psychiatrist.

I'm in the same situation. I had a psychiatrist scheduled to check on me, but it was canceled. now i don't need a finger i'm happy and i see a wonderful future. my ctb already decided, then go through this chaos that turned the world because of the virus.

I have to visit my pshyciatrist otherwise it raises suspicion that something is wrong, espechally as he is a new one. However i only see him every three months so at least my next appointment would be my last.

At least we can ctb without having to hide it. Covid 19 does has some positive. The only future for me is ctb which i am happy with.

I guess he is not a private psychiatrist. I go to a private, queues are horrendous otherwise - long waiting list. He did not call me though it is a long time since my last visit. Maybe he does not even care. I think it would be better to go if you need it, just to avoid the unwanted consequences.

No he is not private. They are long waiting lists about 6 months at the moment. He only called me due to the cancelled appointment. He probably doesn't just thinks about the money. Yes I agree go if i need to as it avoid suspicion.

SSRI like sertraline usually take time to be effective(at least two weeks), I would advice you to give a shot if you can.
Yet these type of medication can potentially get you side effects depending on dosage, and it may not be easy to live with. Wish you to find peace with your issues.

I took sertraline before. It made me extremely anxious. I think if I'd stayed on it I would have ended myself in a very bad, impulsive way. It was awful. Meds affect everyone so differently. I feel like we are guinea pigs! Try this, try that. See what happens. :(

I struggle with anxiety already, and they know that. Meds do effect everybody differently, that's why you can't believe everything everybody says will happen. You have to try for yourself. We are guinea pigs society takes advantage of it, but as a vegan it is better than using animals.

Typical they up the dosage. Why did you tell him if you wanted to ctb anyway, that would raise suspicion.

Everyone acts differently to drugs, for me sertraline made me feel like I was on ecstasy but everyone will behave differently. I'm on mitrzapine now which isn't an SSRI which could be an option if you don't respond well to SSRI's, hope it works out for you!

Some meds have paradoxical effects - their side effects lessen or disappear at higher doses. It's the opposite of what you would expect.

Seroquel and the urge to sleep can be this way. It's often prescribed at a very low dose to help people fall asleep, but for many this effect lessens as it gets to a truly therapeutic dose (think 25mg vs 400mg.)

Sometimes I wonder if they don't feel upset because you're telling them it didn't work lol

Drugs do act differently with everybody. I will see what they prescribe if they want to change it. I just take whatever they give me, in order to play along and pretend everything is ok so they don't know about me planning to ctb.

I did not know that some medications have paradoxical effects, thats quite interesting actually.

I have told people before my medication has not worked, and they did discontinue and try something else. However that did not help either and they put me back on sertraline, as aparently i responded best on that. Nothing works for me at all i just want to ctb.

I know its like they expect it not to work. Plus the longer they keep you, the more money they earn. The whole NHS does bot give a shit about mental health.
