Curious if anyone has experience of dealing with the suicide of another, like being first responder?

that must've been really scary. Thank goodness you were not walking just a little faster.

Hey thanks for replying, I'm sorry you had that happen. I guess I was just curious because I have dealt with a few and it's something that has stuck with me, and while I may be suicidal I know the aftermath too well.

I was a prison officer for a few years about 20 years ago. So I was like first responder to numerous attempts and actual suicides
Dealing with the grief or the actual witnessing of it all?
Just curious of people's experiences dealing with it in whatever experience they have

Not me personally but I've known a few people and heard tales. I've had a few friends work in the local mental hospital and told stories about cutting people down etc. My sons dad was sectioned once and used to tell me about saving a girls life that had attempted.
The most gruesome stories came from my dad though, he used to be in mountain rescue and unlike its name they don't only attend rescues up mountains, it could be anywhere if an ambulance wasn't available they would attend, a lot were people who had gone missing after threatening to ctb and it was just unfortunate luck who found them. A lot of the time my dad found them.
I preach that you shouldn't ctb if it will effect another as in jumping in front of a train etc but I've learnt that if someone finds you already dead it doesn't effect them as much because they weren't there at the time.

No. Only on here, and that was bad enough.

I did meet someone that witnessed a train suicide. He started hearing voices afterwards that told him to do awful stuff. He took anti-psychotics to make the voices stop and could only 'sleep' if he was listening to music. He could also accurately guess someones favourite colour.
