Does jumping from 7 floors+ guarantee certain death? How about those who jump below that number and still manage to die? I'm searching about jumping cases from my country and all those who jumped from the 7th floor or above died while the rest who jumped below were sent to intensive care. Is head first the way? How do I manage to head first at the impact? I heard that the wind makes it hard to control your position when you jump. Is it possible to faint during the jump? I'm always wondering how it feels. Ironically, most of my dreams are about jumping and I'd always wake up before the impact. I was thinking to cover my eyes during the jump to lessen the shock. How about the impact? If I don't faint will it be painful? Even after? How long will it take to get unconscious?
I'm awaiting thoughts and opinions.

If you jumped from a high enough place.....( I'd say more than 7 floors.. But Idk?) I dont really think you would feel too much if at all.. Just a guess though.

I don't think there's any way of guaranteeing certain death.

I cannot emphasis on the important of height when chose the jump method. Jump is my first choice here, but I won't even jump unless it 2,000 feet height. You need to at least reach terminal velocity (which is 200 km/hr).

Here, you need to be somewhere with this height. This is the Shanghai tower, and it stood 2,073 feet height. Last time there was a worker there who accidentally fall to his death, and he as dead dead as he can be. You land straight down hit concrete below this height, you DONE.

looking-down.jpg

I'm Chinese here, and I plan to travel back to my homeland to plunge to my death. Sooo many jumpers in China, due to too many people and less land, buildings are stack on top of each others. Even an apartment rent in China, you looking at 100 floors. Better off find the tallest hotel in China and rent a room at the highest floor, open the window and plunge at night. Lol.
There alot of tall bridges in China too. At least 1,000 feet and higher. The tallest bridge in the world is in China, it stood 1,845 feet.

Again, I wouldn't jump unless it 2,000 feet. Or 1,500 feet. Because you need 1,500 to reach terminal velocity. You want the earth gravity to pull you down as fast as you can, and the fastest is terminal speed, you can't go any faster than that.

You only have ONE chance to jump, do it well. 7th floor? Pfffffffff, yeah hell no. Go find something else my friend.

Impossible to find something that high. The highest building in my zone is around 400 feet. Seems like I'm doomed again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@OP

Until you find a sure method, I would hold back your CTB. Last thing you want is not die, but have to pay for the consequences of survive a deadly attempt.

Beside jump, I don't know what your backup method is OP.

Find another method, I would go for a shotgun to my head, that my second plan. But I still chose jump, fortunate for me to have a 2,000 feet place. I only have ONE chance to CTB, so I chose very well.

Yep that big tall building and jumping off the top should do it. That building must by well over 100 floors

That skyscraper is over 2,000 feet. So it 200 floors.

Any skyscraper should do it. Three a reason why it call skycraper, it due to their high height.

It scary looking down from it though. I look down from a 650 feet height before, and my legs start shaking. I don't know if I can do 2,000 feet tbh, lol.

I don't have any acces to a gun because I live in a country that doesn't let civilians have a gun. I'd have to move out for that but that would be a waaaay long process. Otherwise believe me I would have done that cause it's my ideal method.

Why don`t you try SN? My first method was also jumping, but now I`m more inclined to SN. The highest building in my place is 140 feet so I thought if SN will not work then i will take the risk and jump from there.

Dunno how obtainable SN is in Romania but I'll look more into it

Maybe try hanging? It seems to be the most accessible option in my opinion. Or a gun shooting range. Though that will be hard since you have to be 100% sure about it and be fast. It would also traumatized the people there.

I tried hanging several times and failed. As i said before i cant have acces to a gun in this country .

Sorry to hear that. Hanging is hard to do. Also, I think in gun shooting ranges, they give you a gun to use. Not sure though. But anyways, how about the charcoal method?

Falling has some certainty to it because of the impact. It is not the fall or the height that causes death. There are actual cases of parachute jumpers surviving from heights of thousands of feet with impacts onto soft surfaces. But a fall reaching a velocity of over 20 meters per second onto a hard surface landing where breaking limbs do not cushion the blow and allowing the head to snap. The key to the fatal component is to make sure the velocity change goes quickly from above 20 meters per second to zero meters per second in a fast jerk. What this does is to stop all that speed built up with your momentum of the weight of your body in such a fast change that your bones, I ternal organs, veins, arteries and vital parts try to keep going and literally tear apart. If your head hits hard enough a concussive force will occur to cause blackout and then the organ damage should cause death very quickly. A fall from above 100 meters should guarantee death if you were to land flat on a hard surface. It's not 100 percent statistically guaranteed but falls from above a certain height onto surfaces that stop your speed without any give should ensure that the jerk (physics term) is great enough that the forces translated from your momentum do enough damage that the human body can't survive.

This is my preferred way to CTB. But what a weird question, can a person have a preferred way to CTb? I mean how many can you try and if you try a bunch don't you suck at this?

How do I manage to head first at the impact?
I doubt it is possible. Time of free fall from even 100m is less than 5 seconds, and you will be in free fall conditions first time of your life. Most likely you will act instinctively and try to "protect" your head. I experienced it myself after jumping from the 5th floor. I was falling in a prone position and extended both arms in front of me, not because I "changed my decision", but from pure instinct.
If I don't faint will it be painful? Even after? How long will it take to get unconscious?
If you don't lose consciousness, it will be the worst pain in your life. I had several fractures but didn't even notice it because of excruciating abdominal pain which made me scream.
You may not lose consciousness at all (if you didn't lose it immediately).
Does jumping from 7 floors+ guarantee certain death?
Certainly not. I would not jump again from a height less than 100m, and would not jump on anything except concrete or other hard surface. After free fall from 100m, you will reach 68% (38m/s=137km/h) of terminal velocity (which is about 56m/s).

@Longman

You seem to know alot about math, maybe you can help me on how fast I be going if I jump from my height.
I would love to plunge from that 2,000 feet skyscraper but hard to have access and have to do it at night. The easy way for me is a 1,600 feet (488 meters) bridge, which I can have access at anytime, and there nothing below except rocks.

So... if I'm free fall from 488 meters (1,600 ft), how fast I'm going? I believe terminal velocity stood at somewhere 1,500 feet.

Let just hope I die once I hit the rocks below. What I know for sure is I will black out. As I gave the example, you inside a car, strap down by seat belt, and once crash a safety air bag protect you. Yet you still pass out due to the impact. And mind you, freeway only going 120 km/hr.
Plunge from a 488 meters bridge, I believe I'm going at least 200 km/hr, and I don't have a car, seat belt or safety air bags protect me. For sure I will pass the fu-ck out. Let just hope I die then, last thing I want is wake up few months later, lol.

So... if I'm free fall from 488 meters (1,600 ft), how fast I'm going?
You'll reach 197km/h, which is 97.6% of terminal velocity, except of 98.9% in case of 2000ft (610m). So, the only benefit from 2000ft-jumping is additional 2.5km/h to your landing speed. I think such small addition would change nothing.

I used formulas and terminal velocity value from Wikipedia. They do not give formula for dependence between height and landing velocity and I was unable to find it anywhere else, but it can be derived from other formulas.
Formula
V is landing velocity (in m/s), V∞ is terminal velocity (56m/s), e=2.718, g=9.81m/s^2 and H is height in meters
For small heights, landing velocity grows fast with each extra meter of height, but for great heights, it grows very slow, tending to terminal velocity (diagram below shows it well).

There`s another thread just like this already. I posted this in that other thread but I`ll post it here again...
There`s a reason why people jump from the Golden Gate bridge (besides there not being a fence high enough to stop them although nowadays I believe they`re installing a higher fence). The walkway is high enough that you reach terminal velocity within a few seconds and supposedly when you hit the water it`s like swan diving into cement. The only problem is not every one dies instantly. People sometimes break their legs or spine first and actually drown.
One guy was pretty tough he had to try 3 times (being successful on his third try)
Watch the movie `The Bridge` it`s about the Golden Gate bridge and the amount of suicides commited by jumping off the pedestrian walkway.
I had a co-worker jump from The Verrazano bridge in NY. Come to find out the height was just about the same as the Golden Gate bridge.
Supposedly he was going home from work. Parked in the middle of the bridge, got out and jumped. All in mid afternoon traffic.

lmao 2,000 feet? Where I live there's a cliff 341 feet, only the other day some poor girl jumped from it and died. In fact every person who has jumped from that cliff has died. 2,000 feet is your opinion. You're fear mongering me out of it tbh, so well done, thanks for the help I suppose.

I'm choosing to jump. The closest bridge is 144ft, I think it's plenty seeing how many have jumped from shorter distances. I've only found that a guy survived but he jumped feet first. I plant to fall backwards, and will wear a weighted vest. I just got prescribed anti-anxiety medication so I'll have that to keep me calm, and will take an old camera to keep from looking too suspicious and being approached.
I try not to get too caught up in the guarantee of death, you can always find someone that survived something by some miracle reason that others struggle to understand.

Last November I was in Salt Lake City Utah and staying at a hotel on the top floor in a suite. It had access to an balcony right off the side. I've never really considered jumping as something I'd do as I'm not really a fan of heights, but I'd be damned to say I didn't at least think of it a few times while being up there. This would be a fall of about 200+ feet. It's one of those things that you'd just like to know or feel. .Sure, a fall of about 3 seconds and then it's over (probably).....

In my city, there are some bridges only up about 60 feet. I'm not really sure I'd be willing to chance it on that. I have had the thought as if I'm choosing gunshot, why not do that on the edge of one of those bridges so I fall off as well. Would make for an interesting news article..
