I think that's part of the survival instinct is that once you get close you make up excuses or reasons not to.

I haven't been able to overcome that yet either, maybe a different method might be in order if you can't bring yourself to do that one.

It says on the wiki in order to overcome your SI, you count to three but jump on two.

Alcohol could help give you courage, but also you don't want to get too drunk, otherwise you may lose too much motor function to be able to make a proper jump, thus increasing the likelihood of survival and failing the attempt (surviving with serious injuries and potentially becoming a vegetable).

If i hit my head from 30 storeys will i live?
It is just hard because i cant find a proper spot since like there is no ledge for balance so when i climb over the railing i have to immediately go down

Well, I guess, I can only share my personal experience. The one and only time I seriously contemplated, to jump off the 13th floor (pretty fucking high and deadly), I was standing on the roof of a skyscraper in Tel Aviv. Though I was a piece of misery at that very time, guess like 19 years old, so almost 10 years ago, I stepped onto the edge of the building and stared into the depth. My body, my legs started shaking though I was definitely not afraid to die. I fell backwards to the ground and could not even bring myself to get back to the edge. Survival instinct, it seems, very overwhelming, it kinda shocked me, that is why this is still on memory. Shortly after a janitor prevented me from trying to step on the edge for a third time. I got down. He spoke hebrew, blahblah, just got the hell away from there.
Thus... I 'd say, it would take a massive amount of balls to do this... without being extremely high and / or in a verx acute situation of desperation.

So these would be my tips: Get there, look down, ask yourself agaiin if ya really wanna do it, try again several times and if you cant bring yourself to do it, try some benzodiazepines, opiates, booze, of course, smoke a bowl of weed... and maybe u are lucky - and you will fall by accident, or by a desperate attempt to make it over the edge. If you are really sure and you are already familiar with the situation, probably, you should just not look down and try to imagine that you will be flying in your last moments.

Fear is a bitch. Especially if it is instinct-driven. Think about it...
A considerable amount of male members of Homo Sapiens cannot even control themselves so much, that they do not molest other female members of their species.
Lowest fucking bar...
[[ Which of course if no excuse at all for such pathetic people.]]
How high must be the bar to kill yourself willingly?
Your brain is not your own. There are real mighty forces working against you.
Some folks tend to say sth like "If ya are too scared, you dont wanna die..."

I disagree.
It 's really hard, even if you got a good, painless method and a serious death wish.

We are really programmed to survive, before that experience of mine, I did not really think that we are, but we definitely are...
otherwise you could make some breakfast, sit down and ram your butter knife through ur eye into ur skull... but of course you cannot. Most times. Under normal circumstances.

For me, i think it is because I have not found the right building that i can balance on before jumping...because if i have to climb over a railing to jump, my balance will be thrown off...and idk if i will land on my head...

A perfect location is another tricky part of this magic trick. I wouldn 't risk anything by jumping off a building not high enough (at least 10th floor I 'd say) and I need my fucking privacy ... If I were rattled by some cops or nosy, watching neighbors I would not do it. Chances are, some shit goes down not according to plan and I end up as a cripple for the rest of my life or I get caught and put into some stinking psychiatry hole, for whatever amount of time... I hate that shit. I will never go into a psychiatry again. Meh.

I was thinking like 15++ floors....hell, even 30 (low wind day).

Some kind of (not see through) body bag.

Get inside it on the ledge (4am, no passerby's down there), zip up, roll off.

Have something painted on the exterior of the bag: "Don't open or touch, body inside, call emergency services."

Main problem: bag acting as windbreaker/parachute or otherwise breaking the fall. Material of bag would have to be strongly considered.

I think 200 ft/65m is the guaranteed height. Jumping while inside a body bag is one of the grisliest ideas I've seen here.

I visited the location maybe 50 or so times before jumping. I did it completely sober as I thinked that help me overcome my SI because I knew my decision was 100% mine. But it worked, i managed to jump

Very sorry to learn of the pain you're in as a result, Amz.

Could you remove some suspense and inform us of the height you jumped from?

Thank you and all the best with your recovery and everything else.

Of course and thank you. I'm suffering massive PTSD from it though.
The paperwork from ICU says 25m so just over 80ft

Did you land feet first or what?
Yes feet first unfortunately. One leg hit a patch of grass on the central reservation and the other on the tarmac. The police said I was about 15cm from smashing my head on the barrier and if I was about a metre the other way I would have landed completely on the tarmac and both would have killed me without a doubt.

I suppose your head and upper body landed on the patch of grass, too?
So your local police say if you jump 25 metres and land feet first on tarmac, you'll die "without a doubt"?

Yeah kind of, was feet first and crumpled in the direction of the grass.
Yeah well that's what the incident commander of the scene told me when he visited me. He's been to many. True or not sure but it is what I thought when I jumped.
