I often find myself reading about successful suicide attempts. I suppose I consider it research for when my time comes. The relevant part of the article that piqued my interest:

What is known about this method? I feel like it has to be quite painful and that it has a low success rate.

Excuse my confusion, but where does the CO2 come in to play here? I thought that required the burning of some sort of fuel like gasoline or charcoal.

Put a bag on your head, tie it, you will eventually only have CO2 in the bag through your own respiration.

OMG!!!! I know the place "La CASA" I knew someone there and visited once. It is a hellhole. Everything that mental illness movies are made of.... Anyone there would try to kill themselves. Those places are a travesty and mockery of anyone who is hurting because of mental illness to put them in a place of torture... jeez.. the mental health profession is still in the damn dark ages..... poor thing... not that he died but that he died THERE.

Common mistake C0= Carbon Monixide - deadly gas C02= Carbon Dioxide - the stuff we breathe out and feeds plants :)

Clearly I haven't done enough research on asphyxiation. Thank you, Stan.

I feel like an idiot. Duh. Of course we exhale CO2.

Thanks for your edit, Dawn. I totally confused CO and CO2.

Keeping a plastic bag over your head requires an incredible, superhuman amount of determination, and probably medication, too, like benzos.

I tried this once at the lowest point in my life. I desperately wanted to die, but you can't imagine how uncomfortable suffocation is until you try it.

It's heart-breaking how desperation drives people to extremely painful methods. This is what comes of not respecting people's wishes to just fucking quiet on their own terms and peacefully.

Only with a bag on his head? I find it relatively easy and I would not mind trying it. It is scary that the SI caused him to remove the bag after brain damage.

as you see?
