The bleeding won't stop! I've self harmed badly. I know I need stitches, a lot of them but if I go to Accident & Emergency (emergency room) I know I'll end up in hospital. I was asked again today by a mental health worker, if I would consider hospital but I obviously said no as I am putting my plans into place and have been waiting in today for delivery of SN. I've fucked up.

Without knowing details and severity of what you have done, its impossible to advise you what you should do and I am not asking for details. But if you know/suspect you need stitches, then it must be pretty severe self harm. Do you have access to any medical supplies/first aid equipment? I have used duct tape in the past on bad cuts as a short term fix. But without any of that, you really need to seek medical attention or find someone who can help patch you up.

I've put two dressings with 2 bandages on both arms but blood is seeping through. I'm gonna have to go to a&e.

But I've had over 200 stitches in total in the last 3-months and was due to have surgery last month to suture one wound but refused. This isn't going to end well for me.

Is there any way at all you can make it out to be a accident?

I wish I could but once I pull up my sleeves and they see all the recent scars and read my notes on the system I'm fucked. I'm also finding it near impossible to hide my symptoms (voices) and cant help but respond to them. The hospital will also contact the mental health team who I am currently under. I'm a fucking dick!

Well if A&E is the only option, then you are just going to have to take whatever happens after that. What alternatives do you really have?

Good luck at A&E. Please come back here and let us know you are safe and in one piece. Fingers crossed everything works out for you.

Definitely time to get a "repair kit"
You can buy butterfly stitches, suture kits (practice on an orange like medical students do), sterile dressings, antiseptics etc

Is 111 an emergency number? Like 911? Just curious about other people's lives.

It's recommended to call 111 if it's not an urgent emergency, which would be unsuitable here

Sorry, was being sarcastic. 111 is a useless non emergency healthcare number, so if it's not quite an ambulance situation then many advise calling 111. They just follow a laborious script and either tell you to go to A and E or g.p any way. On various health groups I'm part of people often ask for advice and the stock response which is no use to man nor beast is 'call 111'

Ah no problem. This is u k btw. I am still in shock that in the U.S A you can be forced into a psych ward against your will for saying you are suicidal! And then get charged for the pleasure!! Would this happen even if you were suicidal because you were suffering agonising pain and disablement from a terminal illness??
I saw a counsellor here once whose first words were about having to report me if I declare any desire to harm myself or others. I told her I couldn't see her any more if I can't explain how suicidal I feel ffs.
No one wants to be in this God awful position

You don't get automatically committed for saying your suicidal?? Here, once you say that...of course considering variables like age, physical appearance, history, your getting involuntarily committed for 72 hours minimum.
The state or public hospitals, for people with no insurance or money, are probably only a step above our horrible prisons.
In the US, prisons and psychiatric hospitals are privately owned, not federally owned..so there is very little government concern as long as owners are following some basic federal guidelines.
Everything in the US is profit driven. Maybe some countries don't lock suicidal people up as much as here, because we have more unrestricted access to deadly force against ourselves and others? But I also think reasons for being suicidal are probably much higher in some countries other than the US.
Kids here are spoiled...they think everything is supposed to be handed to them, parents are supposed to pay all the bills but have no right to expect anything in return or their kids say their life is so horrible they just want to die, then their parents ignore them and none of them ever talk about what the real issues are.

I think there will be situations where it doesn't apply but that's correct, you won't be committed for saying you're suicidal. Because we have a publicly funded health care system this couldn't be afforded so no money to be made. People go begging for help and get very little support here for m.h problems. I can't think of anything more barbaric really than forced sectioning of suicidal individuals. No one in the health or m.h sector gives a stuff about these people and the actual REASONS they feel that way
