Venting I've been doxed and it is pissing me off....Beware

So I started getting phone calls from my family asking me what the fuck is going on. Apparently someone on the site managed to find my real name(I think either one of the assholes from that video or one of the people I have discussed partnering with) They went to my Facebook page and messaged every friend with my last name and shared my posts.

I simply said that I was indeed suicidal and for good reasons that my family is aware of(Terminal Cancer) Now I am under close scrutiny from everyone. I really am kind of relieved that now they all know and I was able to make the case that I am not depressed and this is a well thought out decision that I intend to follow through with.

They all of course offed help and suggested professional help. I told them that short of finding a cure for cancer and winning the lottery that nothing would change my mind, They one good thing is that instead of hanging out watching football alone today I now have a full house coming over to watch the games...LOL

This did not have the devastating effects it might to someone with a less "obvious" reason for choosing to CTB, I'm sure if it was simply a mental issue they would have had me taken to a psych ward.

So I'll have to deal with the shitstorm when my family arrives this afternoon but I'm just sticking to my decision and being very calm when it inevitably happens.

I'm not leaving the site as I am not ashamed of being a member and think it is a vital resource for those of us of the same mind. I do wish we could better control minors and those of truly limited mental capacity having access but unless we remain anonymous I just don't think people will feel comfortable here.

It's funny, the same people who want to "save" us are the ones who help drive us to it. And they'd applaud us for doing it.

Im like you. I don't want to purposely admit who I am, but I also don't care. They can message everyone, those who are close to me know I am always semi suicidal. And those that don't actually know that, would not be surprised to learn it. I make no secret in my life that I hate existing. I've even posted it on Facebook. In fact I'm kind of formulating a Facebook post now to get in front of it in case they do doxx me.

Do you know how you were doxxed? It would be nice information to share - if you could - so other members of the forum can take time to make sure that they also don't get doxxed from a similar situation.

I have to say though, it's so shitty someone would do that to someone. I'm glad it didn't ruin everything for you, but it's just kind of sadistic, because they wanted it to ruin you.

If anyone ever aired my identity or even the content of private conversations to anyone other than whom they were intended for, I would consider that to be one of the most vile and unforgivable offenses, especially against a vulnerable individual whose reputation or personal life could not withstand any further damage or upheaval.
Privacy and confidentiality (or what's left of it) is the only thing some people have here.
It's one thing that many suicidal individuals hope to keep intact, even once they're gone.

Anonymity is a necessity for those who don't have the power or privilege to speak out without fear of horrific consequences.

I don't think most of the people who post these kinds of exposes understand how actors on the internet behave, and that during a period of high public profile, anonymous actors with no connection to any immediate participants in the site or the creator's respective circles will go after parties on all sides. Be prepared and step up your privacy measures.

The reason this site is dangerous is because hurting people will assume others here are hurting too. In our core, we want to help. That, with the anonymity and the cloistered community we have, makes a target rich environment for predators. By nature I'm a cynic and a skeptic, but I find myself empathizing with people here telling their story. At the end of the day, we don't know anything that we read here is authentic until it is verified by another source such as an article or news source posting a death by someone we can eventually infer was a poster here.

I've said it numerous times in posts that this place is filled with all kinds of posers, pro-lifers masquerading as pro-choicers, LE, all kinds of anti-choice people. Don't give last names to anyone until you are certain of who you are talking with (how you ever actually know that, I don't know, but go by your gut, I guess). Make sure you delete metadata from pics and vids before posting.

Given the timing I think its likely that it was a result of the Hellogirl situation. Whether it was her or somebody else who saw her claims and felt it was somehow their right or responsibility to retaliate against you based solely on the accusation, its impossible to know. Or maybe it was someone else with their own motivations and the timing was just a coincidence.

Hell, maybe she was telling the truth and you're the liar even though at face value at least your story seems to make more sense. We just don't know, that's the danger with the internet. Be careful everyone!

Pretty sad that its come to this tbh. The ability to form meaningful connections with others and trust someone with something as basic as our real name would greatly benefit many here, but even that possibility has to be taken away from us.
