Yes - this world is a cruel place. Many people are disadvantaged right from the start of their lives, random factors such as luck determine everything. People are simply very judgemental.

You don't need to limit this observation to looks, money and status. Most human beings will look down on or marginalise everyone who falls outside the norm, unless he possesses some exceptional skill/talent to make up for his "shortcomings". (If Steinmetz or Hawking hadn't had their remarkable brains, people would have treated them very differently...) Even then, one might still not be fully accept, but merely tolerated due to one's contributions.

Not to mention if you do have the looks and status, you have to keep that shit up otherwise they eventually turn on you. People are quick to judge, make someone feel bad, or bringing someone down in order for them to look good in the eyes of others.

Alas, that is the problem with everything in life. It is far more difficult to hold a certain standard than to reach it.

An artist who created a brilliant work might have toiled very hard to arrive at this outcome, but he is now faced with the problem of retaining, or worse, surpass the level of excellence he has reached.
A man who realised his dream of buying a house by working long, grueling hours will have to continue to toil in order to answer for the running expenses of said house (taxes, repairs, changing regulations...)
A bodybuilder who reached his desired physique will have to keep his routine up, or else his efforts will have been for naught.

If you spent a long time to master a musical instrument, you need to practice regularly in order to not regress.
If you put a lot of work into building a relationship with your partner, you'll have to continue your efforts to prevent it from falling apart.
If you hungered and managed to obtain food, you will have to bother with finding new comestibles in order to avoid starving again.

Living is too much work.

Try having a mental disorder, better yet try having a mental disorder while working in retail. (Or really anywhere where you have to work for people and they don't have the decency to treat you like a human being.) Because when issues come up because of your disorder it's easier for them to get angry at you and be mean instead of communicate and understand and actually treat you with compassion. And I don't know maybe like an actually human being. Fuck this life I'm so done with it!!!

People don't understand how cruel this place really is when it comes down to it.

I mean It's brutal but people act like nothing or they're too dumb not too see it.

It's just nature. I mean everyone is judgemental but at the same time they can live like the one they judge.
It's just disgusting when you realize how filthy human nature really is.

Everything is about survival.
If someone doesn't see you fit for helping them survive, they Will dehumanize you. Simple.
