This is an abandoned building, it is located in my hometown, I plan to jump from it in case I return home, do you think this height is enough to die?

Enough certainty to die. Not enough certainty to be instant, unless you're lucky enough to land point on the head. It could be 1/2 an hour at worst of agony upon landing

honestly i dont know. i know a guy who survived such a fall because he landed on his feet. its pretty hard to control your rotation mid air he told me
maybe practice from a high jumpboard like 10 meters in the swimming hall?
do you have any water dams where you live? i know one in my area that is at least 3 times that height. i think there would be little chance surviving that jump. but iam afraid of heights. i went bungeejumping and the guy had to push me. still afraid

Then I don't think it's worth taking the risk. What if you land on the part with vegetation…you would have a lot of chances to end up a vegetable or paralised. Plus I've heard of people who jumped from a very high building, ended on the cement and still survived. Please rethink this.

People have survived instances of parachute failure by falling through tree canopies. Mom died by falling down a flight of stairs.

I guess it all depends on what you hit and how.

It could be a scary situation there- abandoned buildings tend to attract homeless people, people with drug addictions, possibly criminals on the run, etc. A person could get assaulted in a situation like this.

In my opinion, this a good height to accomplish the deed. However, I don't really know if it's enough for instantaneous death. I would go higher just to be sure.

Somewhere on this site it says you want 30m for 90% fatality and 100m for close to 100%, provided you land on something hard. This looks like 7 floors, so not even close to 90%. I personally would not recommend buying 90% dead for 10% paralyzed, but I guess that depends on how bad 100% alive is.

Because if you do it right, you die on impact. Quick and easy. Also you don't have to poison yourself and suffer the effects first.

@Judah It just doesn't seem that high to me. I wouldn't risk it. Ideally you'd want to find something that's high enough the fall will kill you no matter what way you hit the ground. About 70 meters would be minimum. But personally I'm going for an overkill height of at least 700 meters.

Because.... N and SN is unobtainable in some parts of the world. Also in some countries like Russia and Singapore it is just more convenient to jump because of the abundance of buildings in proximity to where people live, or that people live in these buildings themselves. It is a method with no frills, no physical prep and instantaneous after all.

While it looks pretty high, theres a chance youd survive as a quadriplegic or be in a vegetative state for the remainder of your days, which would be no bueno.

Yup, I recently heard an interview with a young girl who jumped 9 floors and survived. She is paralysed and bedridden in a care facility, not fun. I'm so sorry you're in this position Judah, personally it's not a chance I'd wanna take.

Yep. There are some numbers on lostallhope.com:

It doesn't matter how bad life is. Jumping into these bushes will make it worse.

jump on the side where there are fewer trees and more rocks?

if you can get some medication like anticoagulants (aspirin etc) that may help speed things up, assuming you bleed when you land.

even better, combine this with N. but that's just what i would do to personally ensure success.

Thanks, but I know, for her, it was probably better this way. Regardless, there is always going to be risks involved when you attempt a suicide, less so when it's euthanasia, but not really an option for most of us here.

Honestly, I constantly read suicide news, people throwing themselves off the balcony even from heights considered risky (like 3 floor) and all died on the spot.Just yesterday I read about a woman who threw herself from the ninth floor of a building where she worked in front of so many people and died instantly. I find that building is perfect (I wish I had it near my house). the only very important thing besides the height is the ground below, the best thing is a hard and smooth ground like asphalt.Vegetation and rocks are not good in my opinion, it could be risky to fall on the vegetation, to be sure the ground it must be smooth and hard.

Many years ago, I read about someone who fell out of an airplane high up and basically broke every bone in their body, but survived, so I would advise against jumping. Sure, it's dangerous enough that you shouldn't play around on rooftops - since you could accidentally fall on and break your neck - but as a suicide method, it probably comes with too many risks.

700 meters?this is really shocking...700 meters is really scary, I have been at a height of 80 meters and 150 meters and both times it was very, very high ... 700 meters in my opinion you would disintegrate during the flight ... lol one person jumped from a 200m hotel in my country and they had to pick up his pieces...awful

Nice pic:) with under water there are high chances of survival ...even at that height. I recommend a hard and smooth ground like asphalt if possible

Thank you. ;)

I have to correct you though. The chances for survival are absolutely not high. Consider for instance jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge, which is about a 70 meter fall. The fatality rate for jumpers there is 98%.

The place I want to jump from will be at least 10 times as high, and even if I do land on water, with terminal velocity it'll be like hitting concrete, very likely killing me instantly. I estimate about a 99.99% chance it will anyway, which is far better than most methods out there.

The Golden Gate Bridge has been the scene of several suicide attempts, including many survivors too ... I wish you are right, I personally don't love water because one of my biggest fears is falling from such a height and then die from drowning rather than from impact...having all my bones broken and feeling helpless the water entering my nose and mouth and killing me is one of my worst nightmares ... I prefer to smash on the ground
