Know i've made several posts talking of several methods. I'm all over the place but appreciate the input.

At my shop we have both a 96 corvette and 93 firebird. I was thinking of getting a very large garbage back hooking it up to a tube and hooking it up to the exhaust. I have hours to inhale the CO without getting caught.

Here are the problems I see and my solutions

Problem: car may have a Cat converter creating less CO
Solution: i will wait long for CO to fill up the bag and expect to be waiting a while with my head in the bag for it to work

Problem: there will be alone of smoke that will be nasty and make it hard to breathe.
Solution: i would cut a smaller hole with a smaller tube to allow me to get some fresh air.

Buy a generator at 100 bucks, cars are not reliable in this context - 93 is not old enough.
Though if you make sure the cat isn't working... I read that to make it defunct, you just fill up with leaded fuel and drive 50 miles, or let it run for a night - that might ruin the cat, but don't take my word for it, google that...

Cars from the early 1980s and older produced enough co to cause harm....

The garbage bag won't do what you want, since it only holds so much air, then it'll max out at whatever the ppm of the exhaust is (Less than 1000ppm most likely out of a car with a cat, below the short term lethal limit, see link below). Probably well below the danger range for CO. After that the excess air will just escape, the CO won't build up inside of the bag. Assuming the bag doesn't melt straight away from the exhaust gas heat.

What will happen is the room will start filling with CO, which eventually might be dangerous but depending on how well sealed the area is and how much CO the vehicles produce, since they are newer I doubt it would be much. Hours might not be enough and it might not even reach lethal levels at all. I doubt the air would become foul unless it was running for a very long time as most shops are pretty leaky air wise.

I would suggest another method or situation, from what I understand this has next to a zero chance of working. The only way I could see it working is if you created a major exhaust leak before the catalytic converter, or removed the converter altogether from whatever vehicles you're using, then either piping it into the vehicle or ensuring the shop is well sealed and reasonably airtight before attempting it.

My car was a 1980 and it produced plenty lethal levels of carbon mon. If I had not been discovered, I just might have died. I am still mad that I was found. I do not want to be here on this crazy planet.

It has been hard to find a thread about CO. Seems to be a quite popular.

Yes, it is viable.
