Not just for someone who's suicidal, depressed.

But is there really any point of living? Everyone is going to die anyway. I don't really see anything good about living. Even if someone's having a happy life, I really don't see a point in it and it's all meaningless.

No. This world is a trap, prison, deception. If you think logically: then if life were something really good people would not have to force to live and not allow them to kill themselves. Life is not a gift - it is a curse and slavery.

Sadly not but it feels like society worldwide is hitting a precipice where it's about to seriously break down because we are disconnected from nature and living artificial lives. I can see how life can be enjoyable if I had what I need to enjoy it but I simply don't and am trapped living a life I hate.

I think the point is to just exist. Occupy space and then leave.
I don't think there's an actual point to existing, though.
I think everything life has become for humans is just what everyone else seems to think the point of life is.
Success, and whatever they view as being successful, being the biggest factor in what they believe the point of life is.
There isn't one, but who really wants to believe we're here by chance for absolutely no reason other than the conditions for our lives to happen were met just right.
I think the majority of people want a purpose, a reason, so they don't feel so insignificant in a universe they haven't even left a mark on.

So do you believe that relatively younger people are better off living?

Life is all about satisfaction. That elusive and perfect thing. Nothing more and nothing less. We choose death simply because we are no longer satisfy and wont make do with what we have. We simply rejecting it all and choose death.

I guess that's always up to the individual. Always growing in some new way everyday? Learning something new? Many find some sort of passion, something to get them out of bed in the morning. Some turn to religion or philosophy. So is there really a reason to live? I don't know, for me at least No. Many spend their entire lives trying to search and answer that question.

The point of this madness is to keep reincarnating here until society reaches enlightenment and completely ends suffering and everyone grows in love in the most unimaginable ways you can think of. I am talking about love on levels that is unthinkable to human minds. Yeah it's mind blowing.

There is no inherent meaning to life. I don't know how people are so motivated to do anything. It's like they don't realize that all the effort will be futile in the end and they will have ceased to exist and be completely forgotten in the next 50-100 years. Life, in my opinion, is simply not worth living when there is so much suffering, internal and external

There's no absolute meaning to life. The Big Bang happened, we evolved, and that's it. There was never an instruction manual, a to-do list, or achievements to earn. People say an individual must find his own life's meaning and purpose, and while I wholeheartedly agree to that, ironically I don't see any purpose in my own. Although I'm happy for those whose chosen purpose makes them happy - I'd love to live like that but I can't.

I'm 71. Still physically fit and healthy AFAIK.
But everything went catastrophically wrong less than a year ago.
I have survived day by day, hiding the true extent of my difficulties from everybody, even on forums like this. I still have SI and fear of pain but I should try and get over that now and do what is inevitable. But I will keep hanging on, I fear, making things worse, until life, humiliation, loneliness, guilt, mental turmoil and regret become utterly overwhelming. My life is hell, yet I fool people, smile and chat, when I meet and speak to them.

Only you can answer that question when it comes to yourself. Who can gaze deep into your soul other than you? One man's hell could be another person's playground... If you weren't depressed, would you enjoy life?

Obviously there's no point, but people can be happy, no one want to die if they're happy. The brain's positive chemicals keep people alive, beside SI.

Yes there is: anything the individual values. Objectively there is no point (our universe began as a cosmic accident as did life and evolution is one gory, bloody mess leading to highly evolved semi-intelligent apes called humans who are born, suffer, have some pleasurable experiences if they're lucky and then die never to be heard from again) but subjectively there are plenty of reasons to stay alive and even enjoy it. To our sort of people/people in our situation that sounds incredibly strange I know but it happens to be true.

Personally I think what could make life worthwhile is love: I've experienced this twice but as I lost those people (they deserted me which makes it even more painful) so did my enjoyment of life.

There are nearly 8 billion people on the planet now , yet an estimated 107 billion have died since man first came about , does that mean people with multiple personalities are sharing a body then ?

I don't think there's a point to living. The way we evolved though, I think our brains are wired to find our own point (passions/goals/hobbies things of that nature). I've checked way more boxes off than I ever imagined a kid raised in American poverty could, which is why I want to CTB. (I only say American poverty because I know there's worse conditions out there). Anyway, back to the topic. I think we need to create our own point to living. The problem is most people done find that point, or don't achieve their true point. Hence, all the turmoil/evil/torture this world brings.

I have often thought the same. It seems that life is simply delaying the inevitable. Some people have a good time. Successful and enjoy it. But no matter what you do we all end up the same. So why not take a short cut and stop doing what society expects? It's your life and your right to do as you want. It shouldn't be made hard to ctb. Its your personal right.
