Potassium cyanide is a horrible idea. Basically your body becomes unable to carry O2 because of Lactic acidosis because KCN blocks the Krebs-Cycle, your bloodstream essentially becomes acidic. You typically become unconscious in a few minutes and then die because of cerebral hypoxia, but yeah it's painful.
