A couple years ago, I remember seeing on YouTube a video of a small old Christian lady in a church, talking to the camera about how god is forgiving and that there is a whole scripture about suicide as being noble in old Christian texts. Now I really wish I saved that video.

killing someone, even if it's just yourself, is a sin in every major religion. but think about it, you certainly sinned many times in your life. any one of these sins might be seen by God as unforgivable, and you don't even know it. it seems unlikely that suicide would somehow tip the scale between the good and bad that you've done in your lifetime. just doesnt seem to me like it would be the deciding factor for God especially if your suffering on this earth has been great. that's just my view i suppose.

I think that might be an apocryphal text. 4 Maccabees, if I'm not mistaken. There is also the account by Josephus of the mass Jewish suicide during the seige of Masada, where the inhabitants chose to end their lives rather than face suffering.

Nope.

Those who have had profound spiritual experiences have stated that suicide is not a sin.

Those who have had spiritual experiences have stated that what we think of as God has love and understanding for all that he has created.

According to them, it is not God's grandest wish that people commit suicide but that love, compassion and understanding is offered to those not only suffering from physical illness but also severe depression and other forms of mental illness.

There are those who say that Jesus Christ's death could be construed as a suicide. That he sought attention and offered himself up as a martyr.

If there is a Heaven and you get there by committing suicide will you have to answer for ending your own life? Possibly. Unforgivable sin? Banished to hell? No.

(Many say that he'll does not exist, it is of our own making, you only go to hell if you feel you belong there and that everyone gets a shot at redemption.)

From what I can gather the universal powers that be would prefer that we do the best we can to regain our health and overcome our suicidal thoughts and feelings but if a person is simply just too sick with depression and other psychological ailments that they are looked upon the same as a person who died of a terminal illness.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church has an "out" in ¶ 2282 ("grave psychological disturbances") and also potentially an extra bit of damnation in the same ¶, with the "setting an example" bit. Interpret ¶ 2283 as you well; it is clearly a bit of hand wavium probably aimed more for the benefit of family and friends of the suicide than it is than anything else.

Sin is anything that seperates one from the Kingdom of Heaven (reality). Being a follower of the Heaven's Gate teachings, I believe that our overcoming of human ways and behaviors is not a moral issue, but a behavioral one. Those who are ready to make that step, will desire to leave behind all vestiges of the human kingdom because they recognize that they are simply not compatible with the evolutionary level above. This transition therefore requires the individual to first have an awakening, followed by exercising their free will. What humans do is a combination of the programming they've received during the course of their lives, their genetic package and the influence of discarnates / people who have passed away but still cling to this world in the spirit world. The idea is that souls are given the opportunity to reincarnate until those in the Next Level determine (by their standards) that a soul has consistently made poor choices, and so is fit only to be recycled/ destroyed. It makes no difference to them. But we get what we want in the end, so nothingness after death is certainly valid and realistic. For what it's worth, I view heterosexuality and homosexuality as two sides of the same "human" coin - Not something wrong or bad, but something that is mammalian and to be overcome for evolutionary reasons.

Sorry, I assumed most would be familiar with it :)
We don't view the exits as suicide in the mainstream understanding, but as instruction that the class received from their Older Member as a final test concluding their mission. Of course, in my case I am depressed, nihilistic and HATE this world, so either way I want to die.

Sorry if that is offensive, those are my beliefs and I consider them to be sound. As to God loving everyone, I think we are all subject to chance, and he neither interferes with that nor judges us for our misfortunes.

No such thing as sin. People in charge made it up to constrain and stop others from doing different undesirable things. That's the whole concept of any religion is full control and submission. I honestly don't know how people can be so delusional to believe in such things, but I guess believing just helps them to get through hardships. Just look and how horrible this world is. The true world. Ever heard about people trafficing? Human breeding farms? The things that exist in this world are just too much to comprehend and believe that people are capable of such horrors. After seeing so many disturbing things I think it can't get worse, but somehow people manage to prove me wrong. And you think such a small thing as suicide is a sin. Nonsense, do whatever you want - no lighting will slay you for that. In real world, there is no justice - it only exists in movies and such.

It's your life, believe in what you believe in. No need to follow a book that gives you rules. A lot of religions has given suicide as a sin, and either way a lot of their rules haven't aged well in the modern society. Suicide still in the modern age shouldn't be considered as selfish or a b a d thing. It should be considered as someone reaching for help or someone who has past their breaking point and cannot take it anymore. Pro-suicide should be a bit more common in the modern society, people have gone to the most unimaginable shit such as terrorist attacks, famine, etc. Sometimes, anything could be enough where help is sometimes hard for those who are suicidal. Help is recommended as a first start, but pro-suicide should be a bit more common if help is looking scarce.

And either way, it's the person's life, they know whether they'll be fine ending it all or not. A religious text isn't going to stop them.
