Depends on what you mean by "help," really. You can take enough of <pick your poison> and you can run a marathon on a broken leg. You can run, and even feel good doing it, but at the end, when the stuff wears off, you'll feel worse than you did before. Just in case there's a "you don't know what you're talking about" comment incoming, I was a miserable lawyer for 10 years, and I tried my best to embody every cliche in the book. Cocaine, benzos, pain-killers, a pack and a half of Camels - anything to make it through the day doing something that made me miserable. At the end of the day, I had still done all the things. I just killed the pain instead of making a meaningful change. Focus on the root of the problem, don't go shopping for band-aids.
