  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I asked myself this question mainly because I am young, about 23 years old, I have tried CTB but my SI has been a problem. And I wonder if it would be the same if I were older.

I would say younger people are more reckless. Older people just have less to live for

Both can have the same result. When I was "younger" I didn't necessarily know better. But as I grew "older" I just stopped caring.

If I don't do it in the near future, I will probably do it before the complete physical and mental deterioration that accompanies old age, but I wonder if it'll be easier much farther down the line at that stage of life than it is now.

I had my first suicidal ideations as a teenager, and that was because of fear and feeling unwanted, but I never acted on it. Now, 30 years later, and having been married, had children, been divorced, and now being rejected by my children, I still feel unwanted. The biggest difference is that as a teenager I had hope that I would find happiness; I no longer have that hope. My only source of joy is my beloved 13 year-old dog, but something (I hope it's delusion) tells me he will be gone sooner as opposed to later. When he crosses the rainbow bridge, I will go with him. I realize I am still relatively young, but I'm tired, and I'm ready to be done. The hope of finding my "thing" out there is gone, so, in my case, the desire to ctb has just grown…

I think overcoming the SI depends on how desperate or hopeless somebody is. People are likely to become more hopeless the more years they are suicidal, so the SI could decrease as we get older.

I'm 53 and far more fearful than as a teen. I think that's probably how it goes for a lot of people, the older you get the more aware of just how fragile and dangerous (and miraculous) life is, at least that's how it is for me.

I think it's difficult to fully appreciate death no matter the age though.

I don't know if it's true for everyone but it is for me (I'm in my 40s).

When I was younger I had hope! Hope for a future of happiness with my spouse and kids, vacations, fun days with the family, friends etc. but none of that happened.

Now I'm old, feel older, look older, pains here and there, etc. For me it's just downhill and I don't see any happiness in my future. So that makes overcoming SI so much easier. Every day I'm miserable, it gets easier.

I don't know why you want to ctb and it's none of my business unless you want to share but take my advice. If you can try to enjoy your life, have experiences, take chances and risks. If there is one thing I've learned is that you don't get many shots at happiness, so when you do go for them all!
