That would suck because I was planning on driving out there if all else failed. I would think on most high rise buildings it would be difficult to get to the roof and jump. And then there's the problem with pedestrians getting in the way too. Maybe there is a good place to jump. Anyone know of any in the states?

Yes, that is true, but i think they are months or at least a year away from installing so you have time. They have put up a suicide fence on the George Washington Bridge in New York. There are always hotels rooms on high floors with balconies in major cities.

This gives me more encouragement to jump off the New River Gorge Bridge. There was talk several years ago about putting up suicide barriers (prison bars) but the park decided again it for now.

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Florida remains unprotected by nets because Republican leadership doesn't yet own an interest in whatever companies are involved in making the nets and other "protective" devices. There are police vehicle patrols, but fortunately, they're so bogged down in jurisdictional issues as the bridge spans two counties and a large shipping channel. The website I listed above shows the police scanner details and the "it's not my department" mentality is preventing "saves."

Damn, this does look appealing. One step into that and I'm out of all this bullshit?

Take me home, country roads.

Perhaps...I don't know how high this drop is. This guy in the photo is also wearing a parachute, which is somewhat unnerving from my perspective these days. Toying with death is celebrated as an extreme sport, and society seems cool with that.

In the recording I posted above, the man who survived, describes in detail his experience from a nearly 200' fall into rough, shark filled waters, through unseen pillars beneath the surface. The force with which he hit and was plunged into the water, how he somehow forced himself to the surface and then to jagged rocks where one of the rescue boats approached him in shock. Once on their boat, he passed out. The story goes on a little more from there.

I share this story not from a prolife or prochoice perspective. I share it from the perspective of one man's experience, and some of those people involved in it. Personally, it has not deterred me from this as a preferable method. Nevertheless, I'm so glad I listened to it.

Here it is again, for the heck of it. https://www.soundrich.com/2011/03/splash.html#commentsit

I tried to jump off the GG bridge back in September 2018. There were some areas that had nets and other areas didn't. You definitely still have time.

Can anyone calculate how fast you would be going on, say, the GG bridge or the Royal River Gorge after jumping? I'm surprised that terminal velocity is only 120 mph! I can see why people have survived jumping because I don't think you would even reach that in the amount of time you have to fall off a bridge.

My understanding from the nonprofit that has been instrumental in getting them placed has reported they are only approved from the portions of the bridge most frequently used by jumpers.

Florida's Republican leadership just continues to say fuck 'em, let em jump. Ok, then...

I think you would be much better off jumping off a high isolated mountain anyways. Ofcourse you have to climb a tall mountain rather than drive.

Sunshine Skyway bridge has been getting a lot of activity within the last couple of weeks with jumpers and attempted jumpers. So far 3-4 this month.

If you're in CA or NV, Yosemite offers a lot of options. Scenic ones, too. When I was a lot younger, and rock climbing regularly, I spent a fair bit of time making sure I didn't take a dive off some of those rock faces. Seems short-sighted, now...

It's the New River Gorge Bridge. The drop is 876 feet. I wouldn't jump from 200 feet. Especially with deep water below like that bridge in Tampa. Thanks for sharing the story btw.

Although the George Washington Bridge itself is getting a fence, the adjacent Palisades Cliffs are still open and highly accessible. The cliffs are surprisingly accessible.
