This has always stumped me too. I mean, I'm sure there are ways to go about it that are *less* painful than others, but ultimately there have to be better options out there (at least imo).

Well, it is not peaceful but it does the job and its quite easy, that might be why its number 1.
I guess it is the immediate solution if the person is very sure about what they are doing

I think it's quite popular because you only need a rope, necktie, etc.
Still, it's a very dangerous method because you could get permanent brain damage.

I tried it twice so I sucked at it. Fortunately, no brain damage for me.

It's accessible just about anywhere. Anyone on earth at 99% of human development stages will have access to a good rope

It's quick and if you get it wrong you might still decapitate yourself or slowly strangle to death so you still die. If it's tied on it's really hard for other people to save you on time coz they'd have to try and hold your body weight up and/or get the rope off

Well you just need a rope, you can do it almost everywhere, it requires no money and its fast in most of the cases.

I chose it partly because apparently if done right, it's painless and effective, partly because it's cheap, and because it's a compromise since I don't have the means to obtain fentanyl.

If you don't mind me asking, I apologize if I'm being too forward, but what physical consequences did you suffer from your 2 hanging attempts?
Just want to get a feel of the potential ramifications of a failed attempt from someone who's experienced it first-hand.
Thank you in advance & again I apologize if I'm being too forward.

Hi! Don't worry about it. You can ask me anything.
My consequences, fortunately, were only neck pain! I have a neck pain which lasted over a week! I don't if this is normal but it's what happen to me. also, when I was trying to hang myself, I felt as if my head was about to explode! It was horrifying!!

well, for me, hanging is a 'last resort'.
I don't mind pain at all, but frankly I'd like to go out on one last high.
rope is easily accessible. it's cheap. it's legal. it sparks the least questions and is also the easiest to provide an excuse of an answer for.
I'd love to obtain my most ideal means and use that as a method, but in terms of legality, and efficiency, it's dicey at best, and I don't have the ability to ensure complete control in success.
I think so many turn to hanging because it's damn near impossible prohibit sales of rope. most other methods are much more obvious.

Properly done hanging is simple, accessible and will knock you out in seconds. No doubt there will be some discomfort, but to die in your sleep seems to be the only truly painless method.

More so uncomfortable, actually. It's just popular because anyone can do it.

It was my throat area that ached for days after my "experiments". Felt like I was swallowing a beach ball every time I ate something. And a swine of a headache as well.

Out of all methods, I feel hanging is one of the most peaceful if performed correctly.
i can't be bothered for SN and guns are hard to obtain in Canada.
Ultimately it comes down to the method you're the most at peace with.

I'd prefer another method which has less consequence if I fail, but I've got a noose ready under my bed just in case

same. I passed out but got found right before I would've had bad brain damage.

hanging is very successful as long as you're alone for 30 minutes and you do it right

I also tried to hang myself twice, partially, it will be my ctb method, along with some benzos.

I never understood partial hanging. doesn't your body's instincts fight it?

I am hoping to do full suspension hanging. I think the most discomfort would be the feeling of the rope digging into your neck, but if done right you would only notice this for a few seconds.

I've got a book about Albert pierpoint and he's got a guide to height/weight and length of rope. I know what length I'd need to get the job done off his measurements
